I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with my prospects. I got two of them just languishing on the bench. They are still kind of raw so I’m not confident on putting them in the lineup but they need to play more. So I need to get rid of the guys in the way or trade them or put them back in the minors.

If O’Neil and Montas are the guys you want to give up, then maybe take on one of the other huge contracts they have
  • Count3 minutes ago
Yeah because they’d be getting rid of a top 5 outfielder
  • Caesar5 minutes ago
O'Neill would be their best OF
  • Caesar7 minutes ago
Two average players on the wrong side of 30... who'd both start for them
  • Count10 minutes ago
The prospect is definitely the key piece. But they’d probably want more value than just two average players on the wrong side of 30
  • Caesar13 minutes ago
Don't know what formula they're using but it says I'd be giving up 10 "points" more than I'm getting in return, mostly due to the prospect
  • Caesar14 minutes ago
Yep. That's why I went looking for something else to use. There's that trade calculator on OS
  • Count14 minutes ago
Wow baseball trade values is by subscription only now. Thats wild
  • Count15 minutes ago
It’s not perfect, but baseball trade values gives Tatis a value of 191. O’Neil is at 8, Montas probably not much higher
  • Caesar16 minutes ago
You prob right. Ah well. Would've fit my team strategy perfectly (and fixed the mistake of trading him for James Shields)

and likely wasn’t going to re-sign
  • Count19 minutes ago
Soto also wasn’t locked up long term
  • Count19 minutes ago
King is coming off an all-star year and is younger than Montas
  • Caesar19 minutes ago
They also traded for Jung Hoo Lee so add another massive contract into their budget
  • Caesar20 minutes ago
I just feel like that would be an organization in desperation mode
  • Caesar20 minutes ago
They traded Soto for Michael King and Drew Thorpe (and then traded Thorpe for Cease so essentially just King)
  • Count22 minutes ago
    I think you’re overvaluing O’Neil and Montas
  • Count23 minutes ago
For a 27 year old who’s probably a top 5 OF in the league?
  • Caesar23 minutes ago
    Yeah
  • Count24 minutes ago
    O’Neil is 30?
  • Caesar24 minutes ago
    Yeah
  • Count24 minutes ago
Montas is what? 33 at that point?
  • Caesar26 minutes ago
Unless I trade for their worst prospect to add more
  • Caesar26 minutes ago
I mean, I'm limited by the game only allowing you to add 3 players
  • Count26 minutes ago
the context is there, but the return isn’t
  • Caesar26 minutes ago
And gives them $35M ish to work with heading into the next season
  • Count26 minutes ago
    No way
  • Caesar27 minutes ago
I can kick them Montas, who would become their second best pitcher, Tyler O'Neill for a quality OF on a much cheaper contract and an A pitching prospect. I think that's a pretty good haul
  • Caesar28 minutes ago
With Machado, Bogaerts and Tatis, Jr's massive contracts
  • Caesar28 minutes ago
But they can't improve because they're in budget hell
  • Caesar28 minutes ago
They have four 75 overall starting pitchers in their rotation. They ain't winning with that
  • Caesar28 minutes ago
They are in the same division with the Dodgers and the reigning World Series champs Diamondbacks
  • Caesar29 minutes ago
It makes sense in my head
