Im guessing the boomer/silent generation family members are the ones really holding that extended family dynamic together in most cases

Yeah, a lot of sticky situations there. I'd def get up outta there for the sake of the daughters. They need a fairer chance at the challenges ahead

Like we are in the bottom 3 education wise.

Education is plummeting as our elected leader there is in there for culture wars, also our state essentially views women as second class citizens as they have gone pretty hard on the anti-abortion stuff, to include denying healthcare to women because it might be consider an extension of "abortion".

Yeah we are a little better than that but it doesn't outweigh the issues we have with the direction the state is heading
    What's the task at hand?

    Especially with two little girls

We moved back to OK because we thought it would be good to be near family and as we are back we realized that it wasn't what we thought and we don't like Oklahoma
That exactly what that was for me. We came home and family just wasn't family. Nobody reached out unless someone is in the hospital or dead

I have my own life with 2 kids, my wife and I both have full time jobs. We do major holidays but really we don't do much outside of that.
That was the norm for my family as well, but we all connected through my great grandmother. She was a mason & did a lot for her community during her day. But we can just pop up there to her place and someone would be there already visiting. Like, I missed that honestly

So really all the small things I held dear to my heart is practically gone. One of the main reasons why I hated living in SC cause I missed those 13 years I could've been spending with the elders & learning from them.

Like, I don't mind the gentrification as much as others do, cause the real benefit is safer neighborhoods for the future generations. But now the culture is all about social media. There's really no more family gatherings, block parties, etc. it's basically like once my great grandmother passed, the whole family split
    I think that's pretty common.

But seriously, I came from the back end of the crack pandemic. Most of the OGs I grew up around before I was kidnapped (that's my story I'm sticking to) for SC, they all passed away. My neighborhoods isn't the same. The authenticity is nearly gone.
