NOTES & QUOTES

Heat Starting Five: Antonio Snow, Dwyane Wade, Josh Richardson, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: Cleveland got off to a decent start, scoring 10 unanswered points from the opening tip. Antonio Snow struggled to get things going 2-4 in the second quarter and finishing with only 10 points in the first half.

Kevin Love’s play was just the opposite, as he scored 11 points in the second quarter and help the Cavs hold on to a 5 point lead at halftime.

The Cavs came out flat in the third quarter as the Heat managed to build up a six point lead early in the third quarter. The momentum continued to swing for Miami as they found themselves up 84-72 at the end of the third. The fourth quarter was all Antonio Snow as the rookie scored 15 points of his 36 points to seal the deal.

Key Stats for CLE: 37/72 (51%) - FG|5/18 (28%) – 3PT |11/15 (73%) - FT |54 – Points in Paint| 12 – Second Chance Points |18 – Assists| 30 – Rebounds | 6 – Steals
Key Stats for MIA: 47/80 (59%) - FG|11/16 (69%) – 3PT |16/19 (84%) - FT |58 – Points in Paint| 19 – Second Chance Points |35 – Assists| 40 – Rebounds | 11 – Steals

Erik Spoelstra on the team’s defensive issues in the first half: We seemed a little punch drunk out there. We had a few lapses that allowed them to score easy baskets.

Larry Drew on Cavs losing lead in third quarter: It was one of those moments where you wish there wasn’t a break in the action. Miami adjusted their defense on us and stole this game from underneath us.

Antonio Snow on his highlight dunk: I don’t really think about it. Something just comes to me midair sometimes. I just wanted to keep the momentum high and keep the energy going.

NOTES & QUOTES

Heat Starting Five: Antonio Snow, Josh Richardson, Carmelo Anthony, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: Despite the Raptors being 5-5 of their last 10 games, they were still at the top of the Eastern Conference. Miami was right behind them in the number two spot. The Heat got started at a rapid pace, playing tight defense and scoring easy baskets. The were up by ten points at the end of the first quarter, but it didn’t last long. The Raptors began draining three point shots as Miami saw their lead evaporate, and they were down by three points at halftime.

The third quarter started as quickly as the first and the Heat quickly made up ground and retook the lead. The fourth quarter was a fight to the finish as Antonio Snow scored 8 unanswered points to put the Heat up 86-80 with less than 5 minutes to play. He finished with 41 points in the win. The Raptors weren’t able to get closer than 6 points as Miami took the win.

Key Stats for TOR: 38/82 (46%) - FG|9/31 (29%) – 3PT |7/8 (88%) - FT |23 – Fastbreak Points|38 – Points in Paint|25 – Bench Points|22 – Assists| 39 - Rebounds
Key Stats for MIA: 41/77 (53%) - FG|3/10 (30%) – 3PT |14/19 (74%) - FT |34 – Fastbreak Points|58 – Points in Paint|30 – Bench Points|33 – Assists| 42 - Rebounds

Antonio Snow on scoring outburst in the 4th quarter: It’s like a switch gets flipped sometimes. I don’t know. I’ve always played that way. This is the top team in the East, you can’t just wait around and wait for them to hand us the game, you know?

Erik Spoelstra on solid shooting by Miami: This is what we practice. The guys picked their spots on the floor and executed well. They were aggressive in the paint with the number of free throws they were allowed to shoot. Defense was responsible for getting those good looks and easy baskets. We had over 30 points off the break.
