30 Days Until Freedom.
Shortly after securing my win against Isaac Frost I was called to the warden's office.
"You & Isaac put on one hell of a show." The warden stammered as he pointed to a seat in front of his desk.
"Please, take a seat. Augusto Jimenez. I've not had a chance to review your file before you came in so bear with me for a moment while I look over this."
I nodded.
"It says you were sentenced to 3 years after being charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree. First time offender as an adult, with a couple of incidents as a minor."
"That's correct, sir. I was on my way to play football at Miami before I lost all of my luck." I replied.
"I made a stupid decision and it's cost me a lot. I don't know what I'll be capable of proving once I'm out of here, but this was a major setback to my plans, you know?"
The warden nodded.
"I don't show sympathy to anyone in here because every man in here swears they're innocent. But I can see good character in you, Jimenez. As for the series of events that have you here in my office right now, well Isaac Frost is the biggest name we've had at this prison since I've been in charge. His management team has been fighting so hard to get him pardoned & back out on the streets that they went as far as setting up a boxing tournament inside the prison he's locked up at. Winner gets to walk. Then you ruined their plans."
That fills some unanswered questions.
"They're still going to go through with their promise & you'll be granted early release as part of the deal." He said.
"In 30 more days we will grant your release & you will be a free man, Jimenez. If I can make any suggestion, I know you mentioned playing football, but you should explore a career as a fighter. You've got the build, you've got the mindset. You knocked out one of the biggest names in boxing, albeit with a very lucky punch, but you still did it. That's a big time achievement."
"Thank you, sir." I responded. It always feels good to receive recognition for the hard work I've put in. Knocking out Isaac Frost was a very impressive feat.
The warden stood up & escorted me to the door.
"Pretty soon, word will get out that you're being granted early release. Watch your back down there. You're excused."
