Princeton Tigers Hire Jim Torres as Head Coach

PRINCETON, NJ - Coming off of an 11-17 2006-07 campaign, the Princeton Tigers have decided to make a change at the top. Surprisingly, they have tapped 27 year-old Jim Torres, a graduate assistant up the road at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, for this position. Torres becomes the youngest head coach in NCAA basketball. Known as a ace recruiter who is not afraid to push the envelope, Torres promises to bring a new style of basketball to Princeton.

Torres names Assistant Coaches

New Princeton head basketball coach Jim Torres has named his two assistant coaches for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Lyle Summers (58) has a reputation for being a solid all-around coach, though unspectacular in any one area. Jamion Peters (39) excels on the defensive side of the ball.

Princeton Recruiting Scoop

The Princeton Tigers have a whopping 8 scholarships to potentially give out this year. There are only 3 forwards and 1 center on the team currently, and two of the forwards are graduating. Word has it that Princeton is looking carefully at two HS seniors:

Antone Lovelace, a HS senior from Bronx, NY, is rated 3 starts. Ranked #450 nationally, #89 power forward.
Jamie Modrovich, HS senior from Bethlehem, PA. Unranked, 1 star player, but brings decent rebounding and good size at 6'6".
