Rutgers Goes on the Road to Arizona, Loses By 21

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-4) went out west on Thursday to take on the Arizona Wildcats (3-5) and lost by a score of 81-60. This contest was never particularly close, as the Wildcats took a 9 point lead into halftime and cruised to the 21 point victory. Arizona led by as much as 25 in the second half. Arizona was led by sophomore center Chris Curtis who scored 22 points on 10 of 12 shooting. Curtis added 4 rebounds, 6 steals, and a block.

The only Scarlet Knight in double figures was Sophomore center Tom Parker, who came off the bench to score 14 on 6-7 shooting in just 13 minutes. Seniors Melvin Lytle (who is still nursing a sore back) and Cedric Alexander struggled. Lytle scored 6 points on 3-6 shooting. Alexander added 8 points on a perfect 3-3 from the floor but also turned the ball over 5 times. As a team, the Scarlet Knights turned the ball over 28 times in the game, which contributed to the Wildcats attempting 23 more field goals.

"It's one thing to miss shots, but we need to take care of the f***ing ball. Maybe I'll tape it to their faces tonight." said an irate Coach Walters after the game, "We finally got the fouling under control, and now we start throwing the damn ball out of bounds. Ridiculous."

Next Rutgers game: December 13 vs Montana (2-4)

Less than one turnover per minute. That's good, right?
