An apropos swan song for former walk-on Lubor Shepard, a hopeful future for the Wolfpack
Jerry Howard -- Reno Gazette Journal Sports Writer

Nevada senior power forward Lubor Shepard didn't take a single field attempt in the Wolfpack's upset win over Texas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament but was an integral part in Nevada's efforts with five rebounds and four assists.

Shepard's final game as a Wolfpack would end in a loss but he shun the brightest, scoring eleven points in the first half to help Nevada go into the locker room leading and would finish the game with nineteen points, five rebounds, two steals and shot 5 of 6 from the field.

"He's the epitome of a team player," said Nevada head coach Isaiah Mohammed of the former walk-on who started 31 games as a freshman, got relegated into a backup role as a sophomore before spending the last two seasons as a starter once more, "He does whatever we need from him, whether it be crashing the boards, scoring points, moving the ball around, he's a glue guy."

Shepard is one of three seniors -- along with guards Manorous Francois and Chase Bauer -- that Nevada will need to replace in the starting lineup. They are poised to do so with the ascension of freshman guards Darek Crawford and B.A. Barber who played in crucial moments throughout the tournament. A healthy Ira Holloway figures to slide back into the starting lineup and forming a very formidable front court alongside Isaac Ridnour who took a major step in the postseason in Holloway's absence.
