Isaiah Mohammed to return to Nevada despite heavy interest from Boston College
Jerry Howard -- Reno Gazette Journal Sports Writer

Boston College's head coaching search will need to look elsewhere as Nevada head coach Isaiah Mohammed officially notified Nevada's athletic department that he won't be taking any interviews this cycle.

Boston College was viewed as a 'legitimate threat' according to one source within the basketball program to poach Mohammed as it would bring him closer to Washington D.C. where Mohammed is from and spends quite a lot of time there in the offseason with his family.

Mohammed emerged as the Eagles top candidate to replace the retired Al Skinner with members of Boston College's athletic department meeting with Mohammed at his home this past weekend. The expectation was for Mohammed to travel to Boston for an official interview but with top scorers Armando Michaud and Manourou Chavis opting to return for a senior season, Mohammed ultimately decided to return to Nevada.

Five-star target Fulton picks Runnin' Rebels over Wolfpack
Elton Hunter -- Reno Gazette Journal Sports Writer

Nevada went big game hunting this cycle and were able to get a hat on the table when five-star L.L. Fulton (Carson City, Nev.) made his college pick but the 24th ranked player in the country ultimately chose to go with UNLV, serving as a double-loss for Isaiah Mohammed and his coaching staff as they lost out on Fulton and saw him go their in-state rival. The Wolfpack also struck out on Riverside four-star Reginald Van who ultimately decided to stay closer to home and attend San Diego State.

They were able to land four commitments with three-star guards Darian Boylan and Neiman Prancilauskas committing to the Wolfpack along with three-star power forward Hakeem McKee and Puerto Rican prospect Louis Rodriguez.

Ranked right outside the top 200, Boylan is probably a few inches short of being a four-star but provided plenty of offensive firepower, even at five-foot-ten and listed at just 154 pounds. He's probably a few years away from filling that role but his game is similar to Darek Crawford with the ability to play either guard spots and defensively, the Wolfpack's zone defense should allow him to not be feasted on.

While Boylan might lack size, Reno's Prancilauskas has plenty of it at six-foot-five with a frame that could get into the 220-pound range by his senior season. A strong and versatile defender, Prancilauskas could potentially carve out a situational role, especially if Nevada is going to play more man-to-man defense like they did in the tournament against better shooting teams. He doesn't provide much offensively so that could be an issue in getting Prancilauskas early playing time.

The loss of Ramod Holloway was a big one but as a prospect, McKee has a similar profile at six-foot-ten and 249 pounds with a soft touch around the rim. He's a better shooter than Holloway but from day one, McKee will need to earn playing time with his defense as he'll likely be paired with Arthur Corner on that second unit and will need to be that rim protector that Corner is not.
