Wolfpack must navigate end of season, postseason without one of their top guards in Francois

Nevada Wolf Pack head basketball coach Isaiah Mohammed told the media on Tuesday that junior guard Manourou Francois has undergone surgery to repair his broken patella and will miss the rest of the season.

Francois was seventh on the team in scoring after losing his starting spot to sophomore Christano Bitee but was one of just two guards coming off the bench for the Wolfpack alongside Chase Bauer who plays both shooting guard and small forward in Mohammed's rotation.

Francois broke his patella in the 84-75 win over Fresno State after playing fifteen minutes and scoring three points along with three rebounds. In the next two games, Ruben Rickert, Rashod Hood, Bitee and Bauer saw an increased workload as the only remaining scholarship backcourt players on the roster, a trend that Mohammed says he expects to continue.

"This isn't the NBA," says Mohammed, "We don't have waivers or trades, the people in the locker room are who we have so we'll need to figure it out, dig deep and find a way to be productive, efficient and successful with a shortened rotation."

Nevada is on track for one of their better seasons after having already surpassed their win total from the past two seasons where they won fourteen and fifteen games. They currently lead the WAC and have an outside shot at being ranked inside the top 25 before the end of the season with a strong finish.
