The directive from Mohammed is clear: get big and recruit local

New Howard Bison head basketball coach Isaiah Mohammed played six seasons with NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing as both members of the Georgetown Hoyas championship squad and with the New York Knicks in the NBA. If anyone knows the importance of the big men its Mohammed, who was a forward himself capable playing down low as a tenacious defender.

With just one senior on the roster, Howard has zeroed in on two DMV area centers Enrique Conley and Ernesto Gooding. Landing either play would give Howard it's tallest player on the roster with both being listed at six-foot-ten. They would also be joining two others players from the DMV area, an area that Howard under recruited in past regimes.

Conley is a bit more polished and even capable of playing the four if required with his touch and good shooting abilities while Gooding is still raw but a higher ranked player due to his physical abilities.

The Bisons will be competing with Towson, William & Mary and Loyola-Maryland as early contenders for Conley while Towson, Richmond, Loyola-Maryland and George Mason are most the teams that have jumped out in the leader for Gooding's signature.
