Potential reunion at University of Houston not out of the question for Freeman brothers
Jack Coleman -- Houston Chronicle Sports Writer

It wasn't that long ago that college basketball coaches were flocking to Clear Brook Arena to come watch Joseph 'JoJo' Freeman III play. These days, it's for another Freeman brother and one that was recently ranked as the nation's top basketball recruit in the 2021 class by Top247 Sports.

Jeremiah Freeman, the 6-foot-3, 173-guard center from Houston, TX, moved up a spot after former No. 1 Jonathan Kuminga graduated and reclassified to the Class of 2020 earlier this month.

"He's a unique talent," 247Sports director of basketball scouting Jerry Meyer said. “You don’t see many players with his athleticism that are that skilled. The key for him maxing out on his ability is to get stronger and be able to withstand the punishment that comes game in, game out at the college and professional level.”

As a junior, Freeman averaged 24 points per game along with 3 assists and four rebounds while leading Clear Brook to the state semi-finals. He'll try to accomplish what his older brother, JoJo, was able to do his junior and senior season, leading Clear Brook to back-to-back state titles.

Jeremiah was a freshman during JoJo's senior season where the seven-foot center averaged 14 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game for the Wolverines before committing to play for the hometown Houston Cougars. JoJo never played for Houston, redshirting in 2016 before spending the past two seasons at Ranger College, a junior college in Texas.

The Cougars are considered one of the favorites to land Jeremiah and he might be coming with his brother.

"I still have a good relationship with the Houston staff," JoJo told 247Sports of his recruitment, "We've kept in touch since I left and the door's always been open for me so we'll see."

Both JoJo and Jeremiah have expressed in the past a desire to play together at their next stops but have said that they're not a "package deal".

"I definitely try to help him out and stuff," said JoJo, "But his recruitment is his and mine is mine. If we end up liking the same school, that's great, even better but it's not a package deal or anything like that."

Jeremiah has also taken unofficial visits to the University of Texas, University of Kentucky and Duke University this summer as he heads into his senior season as the nation's top recruit.

Texas A&M emerging as favorite to land five-star in state prospect Freeman
Jack Williamson -- Gig Em Gazette Staff Writer

Texas A&M and Buzz Williams have received their third crystal ball for five-star Houston point guard Jeremiah Freeman, the latest coming from a Houston Cougars insider.

Freeman is the nation's top ranked point guard and would be a major get for Williams and the Aggies. Freeman visited Texas A&M this summer and an official visit could be coming soon. Freeman spent last weekend visiting Arkansas, which is also considered to be in the race along with LSU, Houston, Texas Southern and Oklahoma State.

LSU and Arkansas are perhaps the biggest threat as they are also recruiting Freeman's older brother and junior college prospect JoJo Freeman III. The older Freeman does not have an official offer from Texas A&M which is something to monitor although the seven-foot center has visited A&M's campus and has been in contact with the staff.
