BOSTON - The Hornets jumped out to an early lead and held off the Celtics. Larry Bird had an off night, making just six of 20 attempts. Bird and Dee Brown paced the Celtics with 13 points each while Kevin Gamble added 12 and Reggie Lewis contributed 11. Robert Parish and Kevin McHale each scored 10 points in the loss. Parrish led the way with 20 rebounds, McHale grabbed six. Bird and rookie Randall Rollins each doled out seven assists with Lewis contributing five. Larry Johnson was dominant for the Hornets, tallying a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Dell Curry (21) and Kendall Gill (18) were the next highest scorers for Charlotte. Boston lost the turnover battle 13-6, which contributed greatly to the loss.
The Celtics (0-1) will travel to face the Bullets tonight.
