Lakers fourth quarter rally falls short in loss to 76ers
Third straight loss and four of their last five have Lakers concerned
Recap of Lakers/76ers game played on November 27, 2023

1st Quarter
LeBron James not his happy, laughable normal self before tip-off. Having lost two straight games by an average of 29.5 points, and three of their last four James took it upon himself to right the ship. LeBron James scored the first eleven points for the Lakers as they took a quick 10-2 lead early on. The 76ers cut the Lakers lead down to one point, 10-9, but the Lakers would go on a 15-9 run to close out the first quarter with the lead 25-18.

2nd Quarter
In the second quarter James was just as aggressive as he was in the first. The Lakers led by as many as ten points in the quarter, 34-24, but the 76ers went on a 14-4 run to tie the game up at 38-38. Both teams exchanged baskets back and forth and went into the half all tied up 44-44.

3rd Quarter
Both teams came out in the third quarter and played each other basket for basket and were all tied up 60-60. Patrick Beverely would knock down a three-pointer that gave the 76ers a three-point lead, 63-60 and the 76ers would not trail again for the rest of the game, extending their lead as the third quarter came to an end up by nine-points, 83-74.

4th Quarter
As the fourth quarter got underway the Lakers got a huge boost from an unfamiliar source, Christian Wood. The 76ers led by as many as eighteen points in the fourth quarter, 95-77, but then Christian Wood would lead the Lakers on the comeback trail. Wood scored 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Lakers erased the 76ers double digit lead and pulled to within three points, 100-97 with thirty seconds left in the game. LeBron James would score on a layup pulling the Lakers to within one, 100-99 and the Lakers would intentionally foul Tyrese Maxey who knocked down both free throws, giving the 76ers a 102-99 lead. Once again LeBron James attacked the gaps in the defense and scored on another layup, making it 102-101. The Lakers intentionally fouled Tyrese Maxey again and he knocked down both free throws, making it a 104-101 game. LeBron once again drove to the basket but missed and Anthony Davis came up with a huge offensive rebound and putback, making it a one-point game again, 104-103. They fouled Maxey on the inbounds and this time Maxey missed the first of two free throws. After making the second one, giving the 76ers a 105-103 lead LeBron James once again attacked the defense and drew a foul with nine seconds left in the game. James stepped up to the line and missed the first free throw. He would make the second once again pulling the Lakers to within one point, 105-104. De'Anthony Melton was fouled and converted both free throws and with three seconds left the Lakers got the ball into the hands of Austin Reaves, but Tobias Harris ran Reaves off the three-point line and Reaves ended up knocking down a twenty foot two-pointer as the buzzer sounded and the 76ers held on to beat the Lakers 107-106.

What's the In-Season Tournament Standings looking like, I imagine the Lakers have their spot locked up by now but any idea who they might play?

Just finished the pool play portion of the tournament. Will be posting those standings today. Sadly, no the Lakers didn't advance to the knockout stage. The loss to Phoenix at the end of the road trip in early November and the Timberwolves and a plus/minus of +44, Lakers were +33.

Following such a heartbreaking loss to the 76ers, the Lakers continued on their road trip with a matchup against the Pistons, who came into the game with the league's worst record and a fourteen-game losing streak. One thing was for certain, one of these losing streaks was going to end tonight. Detroit jumped out to an early 5-0 lead knocking down a three-pointer by Isaiah Stewart followed by a Jaden Ivey layup. LeBron James responded for the Lakers on back-to-back layups. Down by three-points, 7-4, the Lakers went on a 16-2 run capped off by Anthony Davis, who scored nine of those sixteen points as the Lakers took a 20-9 lead. The Pistons would cut the lead down to 20-14 before the Lakers ended the quarter with an 8-2 run and led by twelve, 28-16.
