Narrow loss to the Pels in the finale. Feel confident that those playoff-activated Lakers should be able to take them in the play-in.

LeBron's game winning three-pointer falls short, Pelicans advance
Lakers will play winner of Kings/Warriors for 8th and final playoff seed
Recap of Lakers/Pelicans game played on April 16, 2024

The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves on the verge of an epic drop. Once 41-26 and a top six seed in the Western Conference has turned into a one game win or go home battle for the 8th seed and the Oklahoma City Thunder in a potential first-round matchup. That is all because the New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night for the 7th seed, 114-112. LeBron James had a chance to send the Lakers into the playoffs, but his game winning three-pointer rolled around the rim before falling off left leaving the Lakers in a disappointed state as the Pelicans celebrated on their home floor. Brandon Ingram game up huge for the Pelicans leading them with 28 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals white hitting 13-of-24 from the field. Point guard C.J. McCollum also had 28 points and dished out 10 assists. Jonas Valanciunas came up big in the fourth quarter and finished with 16 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Herbert Jones was also clutch for the Pelicans adding 15 points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals. The Pelicans as a team had 17 steals in the game. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with a game-high 37 points, 23 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three blocks. LeBron James finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and three blocks. Rui Hachimura added 16 points, hitting 4-of-6 from the three-point line. The Lakers had a 29-21 lead after the first quarter, but the Pelicans cut that lead down to two points going into halftime, 52-50. The Pelicans erased the Lakers two-point halftime lead as both teams went into the final quarter tied up 77-77.
