Lakers refuse to go down, defeat Thunder in double overtime to tie series
Supporting role comes up huge in biggest win of the season
Recap of Thunder/Lakers game played on April 28, 2024

With their season on the line the Los Angeles Lakers entered game four of their first round series against the Thunder with one thing in mind ... Get a win to bring the series back to LA for a potential game six and that's exactly what the Lakers did. In perhaps their best played game of the season other than against the Celtics on Christmas Day, the Lakers fought and clawed their way to a double overtime victory over the Thunder, 129-122 to tie the series up 2-2 as the teams head back to Oklahoma City for game five. LeBron James played 52 minutes tonight and scored a game-high 38 points (16-of-26 FGs) and pulled down nine rebounds, dished out 16 assists (tied playoff career-high) and also had four blocks. Anthony Davis tallied 49 minutes tonight and put up 26 points (10-of-24 FGs) along with 19 rebounds, six assists, two steals and eight blocks (playoff career-high). D'Angelo Russell added 19 points (5-of-5 FGs, 2-of-2 3Ps, 7-of-8 FTs) with seven rebounds, six assists and one steal. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 35 points, three rebounds, eight assists and one steal. Jalen Williams again had a great game for the Thunder finishing with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals and Chet Holmgren added 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Lakers with the win guaranteed themselves at least one more home game where if they can take game five would set up potential series close out game.

Lakers one win away from advancing to next round
Anthony Davis shows up and shows out in pivotal game five
Recap of Lakers/Thunder game played on May 1, 2024

Anthony Davis played in 76 games during the regular season. That is the most games he's played in a season in his entire career (previously it was 75 games back in the 16-17 & 17-18 seasons) and even though his scoring average this season was the lowest of his Laker career he was a beast on the defensive end of the floor. He recorded 72 double-doubles this season, led the league in rebounding, was third in blocks, but the Lakers have been able to count on him to come through when they needed him to and tonight in game five he did just that. Davis led the Lakers with 27 points, hitting 11-of-18 shots from the field and grabbing 14 rebounds while still being the defensive anchor and recording six blocks (he has 28 blocks in the series) and LeBron James hammered home the game winning dunk finishing with 23 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists, four steals and two blocks as the Lakers defeated the Thunder 101-99 and now have 3-2 series lead. Austin Reaves added 14 points and was lights out in the fourth quarter, hitting 4-of-7 three-pointers in the game. Christian Wood, Gabe Vincent, Rui Hachimura and Taurean Prince all knocked down crucial three-point shots in the final quarter. The Thunder had a chance to win it, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexanders shot fells short. Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 30 points, five rebounds, five assists while Chet Holmgren continued to look impressive finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and three steals. The series now goes back to Los Angeles where the Lakers look to close out the series and advance to the semi-finals.
