The Lakers and Mavericks went toe to toe in game three of their semifinals matchup Friday night and it was the Lakers who held homecourt especially down the stretch. The Mavericks jumped out to a quick ten-point lead in the first quarter and led 32-27 after the first. The Lakers started the second quarter with a burst and took the lead and went into halftime up 61-59. In the fourth quarter Kyrie Irving tied the game up 115-115 with two free throws with under a minute to go. LeBron James took the clock down all the way and attacked the basket, go full steam and scoring the eventual game winning layup for the Lakers as they take a 2-1 series lead with a 117-115 win. Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks with 36 points, hitting 13-of-35 shots including 5-of-12 from the three-point line. Luke Doncic finished with 31 points, hitting 13-of-27 from the field and 5-of-14 from the three-point line. LeBron James led all scorers with 42 points (19-of-35 from the field), 10 rebounds, nine assists and two blocks. Anthony Davis finished with 15 points, 20 rebounds, one assist and six blocks and D'Angelo Russell had 15 points (6-of-10 from the field), six rebounds, two assists and one block but also hit his only two three-pointers in the fourth quarter both when the Lakers needed them. The Lakers once again only attempted 18 three-point shots the whole game, compared to the Mavericks 38 attempts, but dominated the Mavs in the paint, outscoring them 72-48.

LeBron James is playing like he is only 20 years old again. The Dallas Mavericks have had no answer for him in this series and if it wasn't for their outside three-point shooting on the mark in game four the Mavericks would be facing a 3-1 series deficit, but they are going back to Dallas tied 2-2 after a 110-104 victory over the Lakers. Luke Doncic had 34 points, hitting 12-of-25 from the field including 6-of-16 from the three-point line. Kyrie Irving finished with 27 points, knocking down 11-of-29 shots from the floor and was 4-of-16 from the three-point line. Daniel Gafford added 22 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks and was a perfect 11-of-11 from the floor. LeBron James led all scorers with 51 points. James was 21-of-36 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Austin Reaves added 19 points on 6-of-10 from the field including seven assists and Anthony Davis finished with 17 points and a new career-playoff high and Laker franchise record for most rebounds in single game with 37. The Lakers can't depend on James to continue this type of scoring and will need Anthony Davis and a full team conservative effort in Game 5.
