Lakers get handed first home loss by division rival

Second loss to the Kings this season for the Lakers

Recap of Kings/Lakers game played on November 15, 2023

1st Quarter
The Lakers got off to a fast start against the Kings. Coming out quickly and taking an early six-point lead, 10-4, but the Kings charged back and took the lead on a De'Aaron Fox layup, 13-12. LeBron James scored on a layup to end the quarter and tie the game 25-25.

2nd Quarter
As the two teams went back and forth exchanging the lead throughout the quarter, neither team having a bigger lead than four points the Lakers found themselves with a two-point lead at halftime, 51-49.

3rd Quarter
The Kings came out to start the second half and within the first minute retook the lead and didn't surrender it throughout the quarter. De'Aaron Fox was just too much for the Lakers to handle. The Kings led by as many as nine points in the quarter, 75-66 following a jumper by Malik Monk. The Lakers ended the quarter with an 11-5 run, cutting the Kings lead to three, 80-77 going into the fourth quarter.

4th Quarter
The Kings tried separating themselves from the Lakers and at one point it looked like they were going to put the game away, but the Lakers were determined to and finally caught the Kings and took the lead on a slam dunk by D'Angelo Russell, 97-96. The Lakers scored eight straight points down the stretch, giving them a seven-point lead, 105-98, but the Kings used a 10-3 run to finish out the quarter and send the game into overtime, 108-108.

Overtime
The Lakers had no answer in overtime as the Kings scored on the first two possessions and never gave up the lead. De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis dominated the overtime period, handing the Lakers their first home loss of the year, 128-121.

Second win in pool play crucial for Lakers if they expect to advance

1st Quarter
For the second time in a week the Lakers and Blazers played, but this time the stakes were a little higher. The Lakers got out to a quick lead, but the Blazers tied the game up and took the lead briefly midway through the quarter. The Lakers had an eight-point lead, 26-18 towards the end and ended up holding a 29-26 lead at the end of the first.

2nd Quarter
The second quarter both teams exchanged the lead several times with both teams going up by as many as four points. Deandre Ayton kept the Blazers within striking distance, but the Lakers took a two-point lead into halftime, 56-54.

3rd Quarter
The third quarter was all Los Angeles. They came out and dominated the Blazers in every aspect. Anthony Davis and Rui Hachimura led the charge that saw the Lakers increase their lead to double digits in the first few minutes. Holding the Blazers to 13 third quarter points, the Lakers had their biggest lead of the game at twenty-one by the end of the quarter, 88-67.

4th Quarter
Despite the best efforts by Deandre Ayton who had a career night with 49 points, the Blazers had dug themselves into a big hole and were unable to get out of it. The Lakers biggest lead of the night was twenty-three points at 92-69, but they allowed they took their foot off the pedal, but ended up with a 110-101 victory.

Rockets take advantage of sloppy play by Lakers in fourth quarter

1st Quarter
The Rockets were on fire from behind the three-point line to start this game. Three-pointers by Jabari Smith Jr, Fred VanVleet and Alperen Sengun drove the Rockets in the first quarter and having a seven-point lead, 26-19.

2nd Quarter
The Rockets led by as many as seven points in the quarter, 30-23, but the Lakers were able to mount a comeback and close the gap. The tied the Rockets and took the lead, 39-37 on a layup by Cam Reddish. The two teams exchanged the lead the rest of the quarter and Jabari Smith Jr scored the final four points of the quarter, giving the Rockets the lead at the end of the first half, 49-47.

3rd Quarter
The two teams came out to start the second half and continued to exchange the lead back and forth. The Rockets were up by as many as four points while the Lakers biggest lead stood at three points several times including ending the quarter with the lead, 75-72.

4th Quarter
With the Rockets holding a 87-84 lead, Cam Reddish scored five straight points giving the Lakers an 89-87 lead, but the Rockets tied the game at 89-89 on two free throws by Fred VanVleet. VanVleet then hit back-to-back three-pointers giving the Rockets a 95-89 lead and it was enough to keep the Lakers at bay. The Rockets went on to capture a 99-94 win, handing the Lakers their second straight home loss.
