Tough 1st season, but you really came back from that 4-13 record, good job. Congratulations to Prillman & Ibekwe taking home some well earned accolades. Now that the season is over, time to recharge & reload

I've been simming all the games that aren't "highlight games". Prillman went down for most of Jan when we lost all those games. Really excited for this roster next season.

Personal goal for season one was making the conference tourney, so getting to the Semifinals is definitely a win. Prillman is a baller, super fun to play with.

I'm gonna slow down the pace and play more and more games each season and as we bring in our own guys and move up the ranks.

Can Sacramento State Captains Anand Prillman and Dazzmon Winkfield lead Hornets new young talent to first conference championship?
Sonja James -- Sacramento Star

Brian Katz led his first team at Sacramento State to the Big Sky Semifinal. Katz watched a last second three pointer take away the Hornets chance at playing for it's first NCAA tournament bid. Severely undersized and undermanned, many did not expect to even see Sacramento State in the conference tournament.

Despite losing four seniors, Sacramento State returns key players G Anand Prillman and F Dazzmon Winkfield, who will assume roles as Captains. Prillman led the Big Sky in scoring last season and statistically was one of the best 3pt shooters in all of college basketball last season, making 96 and shooting 44% from behind the 3pt line. Winkfield served as an undersized (6'7" 250lbs) Center last year, but many suspect Winkfield will move back to his natural position thanks to the fresh talent joining Sacramento State this season. Preseason workouts and scrimmages have suggested that Katz will likely move Prillman to the PG position for his senior season.

Freshman Josh Iversen quickly provides much needed help at the center position. The three-star Bakersfield native quickly emerged as the gem of Sacramento State's 2008 recruiting class. Many in the Big Sky have yet to encounter a defensive anchor like Iversen. Barring injuries and growing pains, Iversen may walk away with many accolades at the end of the season.

Iversen is also joined by three other 3-star recruits, F Josiah Samuels, G Rodolfo Alloway and C Halston Nava. All four recruits could come in and get serious clock right away. 7'2" 1-star Washington Product C Elton Fitzgerald will likely redshirt.

Senior forwards Michael Kandji and Jason Sidney contributed plenty of times for the Hornets last season and fans can expect them to serve as key players off the bench. Both forwards will likely see starting minutes throughout the season, as needed.

Based off of preseason assessments and preemptive scouting alone, this young Hornets team could emerge as the most talented squad in the Big Sky Conference. The x-factor for this Hornets team will be staying healthy. While the 2007-2008 Hornets lacked depth at the center position, outside of Prillman, Alloway, and All-Freshman Big Sky G Ronnie Ibekwe, this 2008-2009 team must rely on European walk-on G Milos Pranciiauskas if an injury or academic suspension occurs.

Josh Iversen aka J.I aka The Exclamation Point. He won't cross you up, but he'll block your shot and still walk over you :curtain:

GL with the upcoming season, got UCLA off the bat, should be a great benchmark to see where the new kids stand

That UCLA team is tough. Pretty sure their starting center is supposed to be Kevin Love. All of those freshmen in their starting lineup were All-Americans and that was the toughest game I've played on choops in awhile lol
