Nets Open Up Series with a Blowout
Summary: Brooklyn continues to dominate in the playoffs as they pick up a huge win over the Indiana Pacers. Guard Tony Peters played with an injury tonight, but he wasn’t very effective against All-Star Derek Baldwin. Baldwin was Brooklyn’s second leading scorer with 24 points tonight, still scoring more than any player on Indiana’s team. The Nets shot over 55% in the win, scoring easy fast break buckets. They dominated both ends of the court as they came up with 15 steals and 10 blocks as a team.
Defense wins games. It’s that simple. Shut them down early and it was an easy victory. – Nate Matthews, C - Brooklyn Nets

NBA|CROSSOVER
Eastern Conference finals: (1) BKN vs (3) PHI
By Aaron Barnes May 12, 2027
The Philadelphia 76ers. Brooklyn’s Achilles Heel. This is the entire reason the Nets signed Derek Baldwin midway through last season. The Nets had been stopped by the Sixers two years in a row before going on to win their first title last season. But the didn’t even face the 76ers last season because they were eliminated by the Charlotte Hornets in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs. Charlotte would eventually fall to the Nets in Eastern Conference Finals.
So, this matchup is definitely one the fans have been waiting on. Brooklyn swept the Sixers in the season series, but as we all know the playoffs are a completely different beast. Philadelphia switched things up during the last series, allowing Trae Young to start over Markelle Fultz against Chicago. Young averaged 13 points per game in the series. The Sixers will be going into this series without Malik Newman, who is recovering from tendonitis. Newman has been clutch for Philadelphia all season long with his 39% shooting from beyond the arc.
For the Nets, everyone is healthy going into this series. Derek Baldwin left Game 4 early on with a bruised knee, but has had some time to heal as they waited for their Eastern Conference Finals opponent to be decided. Brooklyn has seemingly coasted through the playoffs, with a record of 8-1 as they swept the Pacers in their last series.

I'm hoping they put forth an effort. We've been busting them up all season.
