Nets Set the Tone in Game 1

Image

Summary: The Nets are hot right now and that didn't change as they opened the playoffs at home against Boston. The Nets got off to a huge start taking a 33-19 lead in the first quarter. Brooklyn ran circles around Boston led by Derek Baldwin and Nate Matthews combined 65 points. Brooklyn's stars all shined in tonight's competition as Keith Perkins finished with a double-double. The Celtics got into a groove in the second quarter as they scored 43 points to tie the game at 62 at halftime. Brooklyn's starters came back in during the third quarter to lock Boston up on defense and take the win. Matthews finished with 8 blocks. Putting him in second place along with Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan, Dikembe Mutumbo, Dwight Howard, and Samaki Walker.

Our purpose tonight was to set the tone and send a message. Mission accomplished. - Derek Baldwin, SG - Brooklyn Nets

Celtics Not Going Away Quietly

Image

Summary: A shocking defeat for the Brooklyn Nets as Boston held their own on their court for Game 3 of the playoffs. Jayson Tatum was the man of the hour as he led all in scoring with 36 points, giving Boston their first win of the series and avoiding a possible sweep. Boston got off to a hot start as they took an early five point lead. Tatum got it going early scoring 20 of his points in the first half. Paul George and Joe Hood seemed to have a tough time stopping him. His intense play carried over to his teammates performance as six Celtics players finish in double digit scoring.

One game at a time. There's more basketball to be played. - Jayson Tatum, SF - Boston Celtics
