Stepping up to the Plate

I’ll be damned if Mo wasn’t right. This was just what I needed. Sun, relaxation and hoops. It’s perfect. I wish Nico could have been here with me. He would have really loved it. I did link up with a kid named Rafael whose father works at the bar near my condo. He’s been handling the footage for me. He’s been getting everything to Nico so he can upload them to my website.

I was sitting at the bar having a Guarana Antartica when he ran inside and hopped on the stool next to me.

“Paul George is coming to see you.”

“Coming to see me?”

“Yes. Look.” He showed me the twitter feed on his phone and sure enough, it was a message from Paul George saying that he would be in Brazil for a week and that he planned to drop by the courts to challenge me to some one on one. You’d think Id be surprised by the type of media hype that I’ve gotten over the past couple month, but I haven’t. Getting recognized by some of the NBA’s current stars is crazy.

Although, I’m starting to think Joel Embiid is stalking me. First Paris and now Brazil. He just keeps showing up at the courts. The message was getting a lot of replies and retweets from other guys in the league. This looks like it might actually turn into something.

“Interesting.” I pull my phone out of my pocket and respond to the tweet as well. That should really get some buzz going.

“So, you will play?”

“Of course, I’m playing man! Why wouldn’t I play? I don’t back down from a challenge, Rafael. If he wants to get it in, we can get it in. Let’s head down to the courts.”
