NOTES & QUOTES

Heat Starting Five: Antonio Snow, Dwyane Wade, Josh Richardson, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: Antonio Snow came out on fire in Game 3. He scored 18 points in the first quarter, all mid-range jumpers. The Heat were shooting well in the first quarter, hitting 65% from the field. Miami’s bench continued to push the lead as the Heat were up 52-41 at halftime. On Oklahoma City’s side of the ball, after a huge performance in Game 2, Paul George struggled greatly, shooting 3 of 8 from the field in the first half.

Russell Westbrook began to exhibit some scrappy play in the third quarter, managing to rally his teammates, cutting Miami’s lead to just five points. Unfortunately, they Thunder did not have the firepower to keep up with Antonio Snow. But in a stellar fourth quarter performance from Snow, the Heat manage to build up a substantial lead.

Key Stats for OKC: 32/75 (43%) - FG|7/23 (30%) – 3PT |12/13 (92%) - FT|10 – Fastbreak Points|18 – Points in Paint|2 – Second Chance Points|30 – Bench Points|17 – Assists| 36 – Rebounds

Dwyane Wade on being one game away: Same as before, job is not finished. But it’s hard to say that we aren’t looking forward to Game 4.

Antonio Snow on high scoring output in Game 3: I think the rest in Game 2 really paid off. I was able to come out refreshed. I was feeling good in shootaround. And we just got it done tonight.

Paul George on shooting struggles: Can’t really explain it. Shot just wasn’t falling tonight. We gotta get back on track for next game.

NOTES & QUOTES

Heat Starting Five: Antonio Snow, Dwyane Wade, Josh Richardson, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: Emotions were running high for Game 4 tonight, as this was possibly the last time fans would see Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem in American Airlines Arena. The Heat came out firing on all cylinders again, but Oklahoma City was keeping pace. OKC took a 3-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Despite five lead changes in the second quarter, OKC remained on top at halftime 47-44, after going on a 14-4 run to end the half. Oklahoma City’s bench played well in supporting them in the first half.

Miami went back to their aggressive style of basketball, getting Oklahoma City into foul trouble early in third quarter. The Heat managed to retake the lead late in the third quarter after being in the bonus for the final two minutes. Udonis Haslem got time on the floor in the third quarter and grabbed two rebounds to go along with four points. The Thunder played like a team on the brink of elimination tonight. Miami struggled to hold on a six point lead with one minute left. Carmelo Anthony hit a pair clutch free throws with less than 20 seconds left to seal the win.

Key Stats for OKC: 42/80 (49%) - FG|6/22 (27%) – 3PT |7/10 (70%) – FT| 16 – Fastbreak Points|54 – Points in Paint|22 – Second Chance Points|27 – Bench Points|26 – Assists| 37 – Rebounds
Key Stats for MIA: 45/79 (57%) - FG|3/15 (20%) – 3PT |12/17 (71%) – FT|32 – Fastbreak Points|62 – Points in Paint|14 – Second Chance Points|19 – Bench Points|31 – Assists| 42 – Rebounds

Antonio Snow on being named Finals MVP: This isn’t even about me right now. I did this for my guys. We did this for each other. Just being able to win this for D. Wade, for Melo, for TP, for UD.

Carmelo Anthony on winning his first Finals: Definitely a dream come true. It was a long time coming. I’m glad I was able to share this moment with one my best friends. I appreciate the Heat organization for taking a chance and letting me be a part of something great.

Antonio Snow on final minutes of the game: The fatigue had set in for sure. But we wanted to close out tonight in front of the fans. We could have eased up and said, “well we have three more chances, let’s rest up for five” but that’s not who we are. You have to push that out of your mind.

Dwyane Wade on outcome of his final season: I love it. I love it! Not many people can go out like this. Doing what I love, in the city I love. This championship was icing on the cake. The last dance was definitely the best dance.
