Rookie Sensation Antonio Snow Leads Miami to Fourth Championship

MIAMI - He started his journey to the NBA with a lot of promise. Following a huge overseas tour, he came back to the States to participate in the Combine. But after colliding with Trae Young, an injury sidelined him forcing him to watch the Draft without his name being called.

After doing extensive rehab and posting videos of him working in the gym, Nike decided to take on the young baller and chronicle his path back to the NBA in the same way that he started it: playing in streetball tournaments. These tournaments featured some of the biggest names in the NBA including Anthony Davis, Dwyane Wade, Paul George, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

After quickly becoming a fan favorite and putting up 25 points against New York and another 31 against Portland, he got his first start seven games into the season against Sacramento. A role that he flourished in.

Pat Riley looked to have struck gold bringing in Snow. And sure, he was flashy and could fill up the basket, but did he have what it took to get the Miami Heat to where they longed to be?

Snow proved all doubters wrong as he was crowned League MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Finals MVP as he led the Miami Heat to title number four in a sweep over the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 25 points per game and 6 assists per game during the regular season, tying him with Terry Dischinger (Detroit Pistons, 1962-63) for the eighth spot. He scored 29.8 points and 8.5 assists per game in the NBA Finals. Leaving teammates and opponents in awe.

“He is definitely a once in a generation type of player,” commented Dwyane Wade. Wade, who decided to come back for one final season definitely went out with a bang. “I was fortunate to play alongside him for my final season. He’s real special. I’m only expecting great things from this guy.”

“He put in work this season,” said Kobe Bryant. Snow and Bryant kept in constant contact throughout the course of the season as he served as a mentor to the young point guard.

“It was great being able to turn to him whenever I needed advice this season about dealing with pressure and everything. He really helped to keep me grounded.”

As he basks in the victory of being crowned an NBA champion, there is one question that remains; will Snow return next year for another run with Miami? Snow was signed as an undrafted free agent to a one-year contract with he Heat. With Hassan Whiteside looking to pick up a huge contract next season, will there be enough money left on the table to reward the young point guard?

“I’m not worried about that right now,” said Snow. “I’m trying to enjoy this moment with my teammates.”

Hoping we can hold on to Whiteside. He has a player option this offseason. We need those rebounds. We're losing Wade, and UD. But I think we just need to pick up a few pieces here and there and we should be good.
