NOTES & QUOTES
Heat Starting Five: Antonio Snow, Mikal Bridges, Josh Richardson, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Hassan Whiteside
Summary: Orlando had another opportunity to pick up a win in this series. Kyrie Iriving had a huge 52 point performance, but to wasn’t enough to stop the Miami Heat. Orlando gave Austin Rivers and Deyonta Davis the start over Terrence Ross and Willie Reed in Game 3. Miami didn’t quite look like themselves in the first half. Orlando had taken a double-digit lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to solid three-point shooting. The Heat managed to get within five going into halftime, but found themselves down 83-95 at the end of the third quarter. After a what looked to be a very heated discussion during a timeout, the Miami Heat climbed back into the game, finding themselves down by one point with three minutes left in regulation. Carmelo Anthony stepped up and gave the Heat their first lead since the first quarter with an 18 foot jumper with 1:22 to play. Those were Anthony’s first two points of the game, but those wouldn’t be his last. Antonio Snow had a chance to put the game away, but after splitting a pair of free throws, the game was tied at 113 with thirty seconds left on the clock. The Magic managed to hold on and go into overtime. Carmelo Anthony brought the shots out for Miami as he scored 9 of the Heat’s 15 overtime points to push the team to a narrow Game 3 victory.
Carmelo Anthony on getting hot late: When you’re on, you’re on. You just gotta go with it. I missed some shots early. Kept shooting. I hit a couple shots late. Kept shooting. You go with it.
Antonio Snow on surviving Kyrie’s scoring onslaught: He was on fire tonight. He had, what? 50? 52? He’s that good. You just can’t get caught up in it. He can’t score all the points. So, we gotta hold the other guys at bay. We did that tonight.
Kyrie Irving on scoring 52 points: It ended in a loss. At the end of the day, it ended in a loss. No matter how many points I score, it ended in a loss for the team. So now, we’re down three games to zero.
Antonio Snow on the timeout late in the fourth quarter: That was just a little late game pep talk. We needed to clear our heads and pull it together.
