First Round: New Orleans vs. Golden State

The Pelicans will have to come together as a unit to take down the Golden State Warriors

After battling back and forth with the Spurs near the close of the season, the New Orleans Pelicans finished with the fifth best record in the NBA. And for their efforts, they have won a first round match up against the Golden State Warriors. Not to count the Pelicans out, as they had won 1 of their three match ups with Golden State and pushed them to overtime earlier this season only to lose by two points. This is a very different Pelicans team than the one they faced in October and nearly lost to. The last time New Orleans faced off against the Warriors in the playoffs was in 2018, when they lost Game 3 after blowing a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter. They duo of Zion Williamson (18.5ppg) and Morgan Sauce (26ppg) is coming together quite nicely and with the leadership of Jrue Holiday and the athleticism of Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball, New Orleans is not to be taken lightly in this series.

Golden State is being led by none other than the Splash Bros., Steph Curry (33.3 ppg) and Klay Thompson (21.4ppg). Both players have shot from over 45% from the 3PT line this season. New Orleans’ backcourt will have their hands full trying to slow down these two shooters. Golden State’s second leading scorer, D’Angelo Russell (22.9ppg), is on the mend with a lower back injury and is expected to play in the series. Golden State is refusing to leave nothing to chance in this opening round.
