New Orleans' Secret Sauce

Morgan Sauce is making his first NBA All-Star appearance

The one player’s name that is one everyone’s lips right now is Morgan Sauce. He has his mojo working for the New Orleans Pelicans as they put together a record of 13-2 for the month of January. The Pelicans are currently 9 games ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers and have the best record in the NBA.

Morgan Sauce has played like a man on a mission, starting with New Orleans’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on January 3. Since then, he has averaged 35 points per game. He’s currently the NBA’s leading scorer. He’s also leading the league in three-point percentage with 55%, which led to him being selected as one of the participants in the Mountain Dew 3-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend.

“It’s gotta be the shoes,” Sauce said jokingly. He has been wearing the Kobe VI Grinch shoes for most of the month. And like the Grinch he has been stealing all the games this month. “We’re playing some great basketball as a team. We are in a groove and we just wanna ride that wave.”

He comes off a bit more humble when he’s off the court. When he steps between those lines, he is a different beast. He is staring players down and is somewhat reminiscent of his idol, Kobe Bean Bryant. Speaking of Bryant, Sauce looks to be on pace to average just as many if not more points that Bryant had during the 2005-2006 NBA season. Sauce looks undeniable right now. And if players and teams weren’t aware, they’d better take note. We’re not expecting his level play to slow down any time soon.

His teammates don’t share his humility when speaking of their performance this past month. They can be seen on the sidelines cheering him on with every shot that he makes.

“Let that man work!” Josh Hart exclaimed after Morgan’s 41 point performance against the Lakers in a rematch from their loss less than two weeks prior. “He’s locked in. It’s obvious.”

Players and fans alike are starting to take notice and there has been nothing, but praise for New Orleans’ brightest star.

“Something big is cooking in New Orleans and the secret is absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt In. The. Sauce,” Shaq tweeted a few days ago.

We are inclined to agree. One thing the Big Easy has always been known for is food. We can’t wait to see what he’s cooking up for the rest of the season.
