Hornets Trade Terry Rozier to Lakers for Danny Green

CHARLOTTE, NC --- After just one year with the Hornets following a controversial sign-and-trade for Kemba Walker, Terry Rozier is no longer with the team. The Hornets agreed a trade just before the start of free agency to deal Rozier to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Danny Green. Green is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, so this is a homecoming for him. Additionally, as an excellent 3+D player, he fits on this Hornets roster like a glove, and can provide excellent leadership and experience at 33 years old with 11 years in the league and 2 NBA Championships under his belt. Green is expected to start at shooting guard to begin the 2020-21 season.

Austin Rivers Makes Return to the Hornets in Free Agency

CHARLOTTE, NC --- The Charlotte Hornets have brought back a familiar face, Austin Rivers. Rivers was drafted by the Hornets back in 2012 out of Duke. Back then the team was in New Orleans, so this will be his first time playing in Charlotte, however it is still a welcome return. With Rozier gone, the Hornets needed additional depth at the point guard position, and Rivers defensive versatility and shooting should be invaluable to them off the bench. He signed a team friendly deal at $10.48M over two years, with a team option worth $5.37M in 2021-22.

In other news the Hornets also resigned Willy Hernangomez to a three year deal worth just under $30 million. The 26 year old Spaniard provides long-range shooting and a unique skillset to their front-line that should be a good change of pace from what Wiseman and Cody Zeller bring to the team. He is expected to get the start at power forward over P.J. Washington. Koby Simmons and Jalen McDaniels also both had their qualifying offers picked up and will be members of the Hornets again for the 2020-21 season.
