Towns isn't even in consideration for MVP. DLO isn't even in consideration for All-Star... WTF!

I'll make a report on this at the end of the month (january)

Man, you are looking poised for a high seed. Towns/D'Angelo is a superb duo.

PLAYERS OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY

The Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embidd and Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry today were named as their respective Conference Players of the Month, for games played during January. The 76ers currently have the best record in the NBA (27-9), while Joel Embiid leading the race for league MVP. Curry and the Warriors are fifth in the Western Conference and have had an up-and-down season, but have a winning record and will likely make the playoffs.

Embidd has scored 127 over the past four games, with two games including a high of 42 points as the 76ers have gone 4-0. They have struggled over their last ten games, going 5-5, but have rebounded nicely to maintain their lead over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

Curry has averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game over the last four games, which the Warriors have gone 2-2. This selection for January's best Western Conference player is a headscratcher. Does Curry deserve the award for this month? No. But he was awarded it nonetheless.

ROOKIES OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY

Kendrick Nunn of the Miami Heat (Eastern Conference) and Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans (Western Conference) were awarded as their Conferences' top rookies of the month following a successful January for both players, with Zion Williamson one of the one of the candidates to win Rookie of the Year.

Nunn hit 6 of 8 field goals in their 97-94 win over Atlanta and is looking like Miami's guard of the future. He has flown under the radar and put in some solid performances this season. However, he has disappeared at times, like in Miami's 95-93 loss to the 76ers, where he failed to register an assist and hit 3 of 8 from the floor.

Williamson[/b] has won back-to-back Rookie of the month awards for the Western Conference. He's coming off a recent 106-95 victory over the Indiana Pacers, where he registered a double (37 points and 12 rebounds). Williamson is looking more like the future of the NBA as each day passes this season.

2020 ALL-STAR SELECTIONS

Minnesota's Karl Anthony-Towns made the roster, with John Wall being the last selection made in the draft. The biggest omission from this year's All-Star selection is the exclusion of Timberwolves' point guard D'Angelo Russell, who has led his team to the top seed in the Western Conference for the majority of the season. Portland's Damian Lillard was selected over Russell, who was 10th among votes for front court players.

Timberwolves acquire guard Chris Clemons from Houston Rockets, send couple of second round selections
nba.com/timberwolves/morningcoffee | February 3rd, 2020

Image

The Minnesota Timberwolves have released a press statement with the announcement they have acquired point guard Chris Clemons from the Houston Rockets.

According to league sources, the Minnesota Timberwolves sent shooting guard Jaylen Nowell, a trade exemption. They also sent a handful of 2nd round draft picks (2021, 2022 – both unprotected and 2024 swap best with Golden State). In return, the Rockets sent Chris Clemons and their 2023 2nd round draft pick (swap worst).

Clemons has played sparingly, just four times since 12 December. His high ankle sprain sidelined him for around 43 days and according to team doctors, it can be aggravated but with the amount of time on the court, he’s unlikely to re-aggravate the ankle injury. While Clemons was out for the month, he was binge watching Netflix, as he told his social media followers.

So how can the point guard, who resembles Nate Robinson flourish in the Minnesota Timberwolves rotation system? Clemons has incredible athleticism with an alleged 44 inch vertical and is very quick around the court. If he gets the opportunity, he will help the Timberwolves shoot better at the free throw line, since he shot 85.2% through his four-year college career. He has the intelligence to know how to get to the free throw line with 8.6 attempts per game his senior season. He can also be an asset coming off the bench on defense, where he averaged 1.6 steals per game in college. Given his 5’9” frame, he’s also a good rebounder for his size (4.5 rebounds per game in his four years). On the offensive side of the court, he shot 36.3% from behind the arc in his four years in 9.4 attempts per game. He will add to the high scoring offense of the Minnesota Timberwolves, having shot 53.6 % on 2-point attempts in college.
