Reinsdorf Sells Team to Former PMC Contractor MacFarland

After nearly two decades of grand success culminated by six NBA Championships, Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf has turned over majority ownership of the team to former military contractor Chazz MacFarland effective today.

The sale of the team is reportedly worth nearly $320 million, put up by MacFarland and small group of silent investors.

MacFarland, a Chicago native, is a marine veteran who found his fortune founding private military companies and selling off their assets to the United States Government. A lifelong Bulls fan, he leaped at the opportunity to seize ownership of the team.

Though unavailable for comment, Bulls' media relations relayed that MacFarland is "beyond ecstatic to begin a new tenure of the Bulls franchise," notably after the departures of Michael Jordan and coach Phil Jackson. It has also been announced that the team has reached a contract buy-out with general manager Jerry Krause and MacFarland will also be acting as the team's general manager with the assistance of the personnel staff.

We expect further details this week as the team prepares for the upcoming 2000-01 NBA season.
