Nice writeup. Would love to see some minor league updates on his progress throughout the next few seasons until he's up.

Always good to win an international signing, especially beating out the Yanks
:yep: there isn't an Int. signing pool in the game, so I just used the CPU generated guys that are from international places. Surprised there was a fair amount with B or high potential, but I did not expect Casey to be the #1 rated prospect in baseball when I started spring training :drose:

Boston Built to Atone For World Series Heartbreak

Boston, MA. - The memory still stings. Game 6 of the 2025 World Series. Dodger Stadium. A 4-2 loss that sent the Red Sox home empty-handed and left a clubhouse full of unfinished business.

That defeat became the blueprint for one of the most aggressive offseasons in recent Red Sox history.

Under first-year chief baseball officer Kyle Red, Boston attacked the trade market and free agency with singular purpose, landing first baseman Pete Alonso, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and left-hander Mackenzie Gore. The result? A roster that has vaulted the Red Sox to World Series favorite status in the American League.

But manager Alex Cora, who guided Boston to its second championship appearance under his leadership in 2025, isn't interested in preseason coronations.

"We hear the noise, but to be frank, we don't care," Cora said. "We don't want to be lumped into the same category as all of those other teams that had a huge offseason, then fell flat when the lights came on."

Fair concern. The gap between offseason winner and October success is littered with cautionary tales. Yet even rival executives acknowledge what Boston has assembled is different.

"They had a ton of holes offensively last year and that showed up in a real way in the World Series," one American League executive said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a competitor candidly. "You look at that roster now, and the main question is how they get all of their guys impact at-bats. I mean, they have Pete Alonso and Roman Anthony batting fifth and sixth respectively. That's how deep this club is."

The lineup construction is almost absurd. Jarren Duran, who led the majors in hits and runs scored last season, returns atop the order with an even more dangerous supporting cast behind him. Bo Bichette, Alvarez and Rafael Devers form a murderers' row in the heart of the lineup, setting the table for Alonso and the emerging Anthony.

Boston's pitching staff, while perhaps a tick below its offensive firepower, remains formidable. Garrett Crochet, last year's MVP and Cy Young Award winner, anchors a rotation with George Kirby and Gore to create a fearsome top trio. Sandy Alcantara represents the wild card entering his second season removed from Tommy John surgery, historically when pitchers rediscover their pre-injury form. Hunter Dobbins, who posted a 3.81 ERA as a rookie and impressed in October, rounds out the five.

The bullpen features Mason Miller, acquired from Oakland, closing games ahead of the ageless Aroldis Chapman in a setup role. Jose Leclerc, Justin Slaten and Matt Strahm provide high-octane depth.

But the AL East didn't stand still. Baltimore, which led the division in July before Boston's late-season surge, added Zac Gallen and Zach Eflin to its rotation. The Yankees countered with Framber Valdez and closer Kyle Finnegan.

"It's the East," Red said with a laugh. "If you think it's going to be a cakewalk into the postseason, then you simply don't know baseball."

Boston opens at Fenway Park with series against Cincinnati and San Francisco before visiting Yankee Stadium in mid-April. The first Orioles matchup doesn't arrive until mid-June — setting up a potential summer of consequential divisional clashes if both clubs meet expectations.

The pieces are in place. The expectations are sky-high. Now the Red Sox must prove that their offseason blueprint translates into October redemption.

When you're "weakness" is Story and Schwarber on the bench, that's a stacked lineup.
The bullpen is low compared to the rest of your team but compared to the division, you have the best bullpen, only Rays are close.

Rays look like the second best team on paper overall. Yankees have great starting pitching but awful bullpen. Baltimore doesn't have the pitching, Blue Jays have weak pitching.

Division is yours.

Damn that's a stacked 1-5 and your pitching staff is really tough too. This is your year.
