The name change will throw me off for awhile. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with the club.

Gonna take some time. But, it's pretty similar sounding, both Guardians and Indians ending with "-dians".

Game Preview | Opening Day: Guardians (0-0) at Royals (0-0)

Youthful Guardians look to exceed expectations in '22 with speed and pitching

The newly named Cleveland Guardians kickoff their 2022 season in Kansas City against the Royals. The Royals landed in fourth place in the American League Central last season but have made some moves to improve. Cleveland came in second place in the division, but never contended for a playoff spot as they were a distant 13 games behind the Chicago White Sox.

THE LEAD STORY: Zack Greinke is back in Kansas City, the place he started his career and rose to stardom. The six-time all-star last pitched for the Royals twelve years ago. The year prior to leaving KC, Greinke ran away with the Cy Young Award. Now at 38 years of age, he brings a lot of nostalgia and hope back to the team as the Royals ace once again.

PATH TO VICTORY: Shane Bieber is one of the elite pitchers in the league, so Cleveland should expect that the opposing hitters will be kept in check for the most part. There are a lot of contact hitters on Kansas City, so the defense has to watch out for the possibility of hits being strung together in bunches. However, on offense, the team matches up pretty similarly to the Royals in terms of style - speed and contact. Avoiding mistakes and playing it safe and conservative should be enough to pull out the win in this one.
