Let's get it. DJP, I'm calling you out. Bet money on which one lasts longer/goes further.

I want in on the RTG game like Brady going for his 7th.

GOAT talk.

2019 Grayson Rams Football Preview
Clay Hubbard -- Gwinnett Prep Sports

Grayson entered the offseason in need of a new quarterback after graduating 2018 starter C.J. Dixon and it didn’t take long for the team to find its next signal-caller in Perfect Game Top 100 Baseball Prospect Brandon McWilliams Jr.

McWilliams, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound rising senior, was a backup quarterback at Buford (GA) for the past three seasons, throwing twelve touchdowns. McWilliams is currently unranked but with a 92 MPH fastball, has plenty of upsides on the football field as a signal caller despite his limited experience.

The Rams’ offense will also feature a highly skilled receiving corps for McWilliams this fall in Central Gwinnett transfer Daejon Reynolds, as well as returning starters Jaden Smith and Jamal Haynes, a Georgia Tech commitment.

Reynolds, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver, is committed to Florida and led all Gwinnett County receivers last season with 1,534 yards and 14 touchdowns on 88 receptions.

Smith led the Rams in receiving last season with 723 yards and caught seven touchdowns. Haynes finished second to Smith last season with 682 yards and caught five touchdowns.

“This group is special,” Carter said. “Jamal and Jaden are two of the backbones of our team. They are talented kids that compete everyday. We are trying every day to find new ways for these three guys to touch the ball.”

Finding ways to run the football effectively won’t be a problem for the Rams with rising senior Phil Mafah set to return to the backfield. Mafah was limited to just 69 carries last season, but still managed to rush for 676 yards and score nine times.

“Phil is the complete package,” Carter said. “He just does life well. He is a scholar-athlete and such a great character kid. When you combine those attributes with his physical ability, you have something special. He went into the off season with certain goals in mind and when I see him run and cut at practice, I believe he has achieved his goals.”

Carter also expects two other running backs to see playing time behind Mafah this season in Joe Taylor and Sean Downer.

Carter expects his talented and experienced offensive line to clear the way for the Rams’ stars to make plays on a nightly basis.

“I really like what we have up front,” Carter said. “We return all that were in our rotation and the addition of (Buford transfer) Griffin Scroggs will have a huge impact. It’s such a fun group that loves the game. Garrett Brophy leads the way for this group and our offense with his physical nature and love for the game.”
