Wainwright teams hamstring against Astros
Image
St. Louis, MO - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright suffered a torn hamstring during the team's game against the Houston Astros on Wednesday night, sending shockwaves through the Cardinals' clubhouse and fans everywhere. The injury occurred in the sixth inning while Wainwright was pitching.

Despite the initial concern, the Cardinals received good news that Wainwright is expected to miss only 1 to 2 months of action, according to team sources. This is a relief for both Wainwright and the team, as it means the veteran pitcher should be able to return in time for the final stretch of the season.

Wainwright had been a key contributor for the Cardinals this season, posting a 7-6 record with a 4.17 ERA prior to the injury. He had been looking to bounce back from a rough outing in his last start, but unfortunately, his season has been temporarily cut short by this unfortunate injury.

The Cardinals will now turn to Jake Woodford to fill Wainwright's spot in the rotation. Woodford has had an impressive season so far, boasting an 8-2 record and a 3.19 ERA. While he doesn't have the same level of experience as Wainwright, Woodford has shown that he has the talent and poise to handle the pressure of pitching at the major league level.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol expressed confidence in Woodford's ability to step up and fill the void left by Wainwright's injury. "Jake has been pitching really well for us this season, and we know he's capable of stepping up and delivering quality starts for us," Marmol said in a statement.

Despite the setback, the Cardinals remain focused on their goals for the season and are determined to keep fighting for a playoff spot. Losing Wainwright is certainly a blow, but the team is relieved that he won't be out for an extended period of time and is confident that they have the depth and talent to keep pushing forward.

As for Wainwright, he will now begin the process of rehabbing and getting back into game shape. While it's disappointing to be sidelined by injury, he's eager to get back on the mound and help his team down the stretch. The Cardinals and their fans will be eagerly awaiting his return.

Let's hope so. We have been on a losing streak in user played games and then breaking even in simmed games for the past couple of rounds.

Yeah the lineup is great. Love it. The pitching is where we fall short, just like in real life but not as dramatic.

Favorite pitcher is Flaherty. I punch people out with him and he does in the sims too. He is near the top of the league in Ks.

Most frustrating is probably Jordan Hicks. I use pulse pitching and going from my starters to Hicks is a huge change with his lack of control. His stuff is so dirty though and he throws hard. I wish he had better control.
