Interesting picks, do you think that Rodriguez will be starting the season with the team for you?

:hmm: that'll depend. As I only have 2 NHL centers currently, he definitely fills a need but I'm hoping I can hold off on him to save a year of that ELC.

About to go on vacation, so updates will be slow. I have gone through Free Agency already, so I'll be posting that up here and get to the actual games come the new year when I'm reunited with my PS4 :yep:

good luck with the upcoming season. Brock McGinn is a good bottom 6 player, I've loved watching him play the last few years in Carolina

Re-Signing Period Recap

Inking Stanley Cup champion Devante Smith-Pelly to a multi-year deal was a priority for the Seattle front office

July 1st, 2018

Seattle, WA - The Seattle Renegades have finished their exclusive discussions with the team's players with expiring contracts and have announced the players who have agreed to a new contract with the team.

The club had 9 players enter restricted free agency, highlighted by winger Devante Smith-Pelly, winger Marko Dano and defenseman Alex Petrovic, all of whom signed longer term contracts with Seattle and avoided hitting the free agent market. Smith-Pelly, fresh off of a Stanley Cup win with the Washington Capitals, signed a 3 year / $9,000,000 contract with Seattle and avoided hitting the market. Seattle wanted to ink Smith-Pelly after he proved to be a key piece in Washington's playoff run and was subsequently picked by Seattle in the expansion draft. Marko Dano was also prevented from hitting the open market, with the team inking him to a 3 year / $6,000,000 deal. Dano, a former top prospect who has bounced around, is joining his 4th NHL team after already bouncing around Columbus, Chicago and most recently Winnipeg. Seattle is hoping stability and having the full confidence of the organization behind him is enough to provide a jolt to Dano's NHL career. Petrovic agreed to a 3 year / $12,000,000 deal with the Renegades as Seattle was willing to spend to keep the young defenseman around for at least 3 more years.

The team signed defenseman Duncan Siemens, center Freddie Hamilton, winger Taylor Leier, center Jean-Sebastien Dea, and center Cedric Paquette to qualifying offers for the upcoming year. Oskar Sundqvist was tendered and hit the market: the team is hoping to have his services for the upcoming year, depending on how the market turns out.

Additionally, the Renegades had 3 of the players selected in the expansion draft ready to enter unrestricted free agency. The team let Paul Postma and Ben Smith hit the market after the Seattle F.O. felt the two were overvaluing themselves. Meanwhile, veteran winger Joel Ward was retained with a 1 year / $2,500,000 deal. The Seattle FO views Ward's veteran presence as important for developing a winning culture for the expansion Renegades.

Seattle announces the hiring of Sheldon Keefe as their first head coach!

Keefe won the Calder Cup last season as the head coach of the Toronto Marlies

July 2nd, 2018

Seattle, WA -- Seattle has finally found their first head coach and filled out their coaching staff. Renegade's GM Kelly McCrimmon announced today that the team has signed Sheldon Keefe to lead them into their expansion season and beyond. Keefe and the team agreed to a 4 year / $10,000,000 contract that bellies Seattle's patience and high expectations for Keefe and the team's long term success.

Keefe, the now-former Toronto Marlies coach, has been in heading the Marlies since 2015 and quickly led them to the top of the AHL, culminating in winning the Calder Cup a mere few weeks ago. Keefe was hesitant to leave the team he had built in Toronto but couldn't pass down the opportunity to break into the NHL coaching ranks and prove himself at the highest level. For their part, Seattle was excited to sign a young coach that has seen success everywhere he's coached. Only 38, Keefe could be a longtime sight in KeyArena.

Keefe has also filled out his staff, with Jason LaBarbera agreeing to join as goaltending coach and Rick Kowalsky joining as the team's primary assistant coach. McCrimmon also announced that front office members Patrick Roy and Dave Tippet would be assisting in a coaching capacity as well. Roy and Tippett will both be assistant head coaches along with Kowalsky.

:yep: He's super fun to play with as well. Doesn't have top end talent, but he's a great glue guy and I'm looking to keep him around as long as I can
