There's playoffs in this league? Wasn't expecting that.

They don't have playoffs to determine the champion. The champion is determined on points gained. It's for one of the three promotion places.

Most lower tiers have playoffs to determine promotion. In the Championship (this league), the top two teams are promoted automatically. The teams from 3rd to 6th play in a knockout mini-tournament to determine the third team to go up. It's the same for England's other leagues going down so League One, League Two, etc. all have playoffs for the final promotion spot.

Then in some leagues, you have a promotion-relegation playoff where the last relegation spot so, say 3rd bottom in Germany for example, will play the 3rd place team from the league under it to determine who goes up or if the team in the higher division remains there.

Then when you get really far down pyramids, you start getting to shit where there are three and four round playoffs to determine promotion with 16 or 32 teams, etc because the leagues are regionalized. So like the third and fourth tiers in Spain and Italy (this isn't on FIFA obviously).

But there's also cup tournaments outside of the league play.

I knew of the tournaments outside of regular league play, interesting with the promotion and relegation. Hopefully you can move up after next season.
