Racing Louisville Signs German Midfielder Tessa Blumenberg to Four-Year Deal



Louisville, KY — Racing Louisville FC has added another piece to its international core, officially announcing the signing of 24-year-old German right midfielder Tessa Blumenberg to a four-year deal worth $4,800 per week.

Blumenberg, previously with SC Freiburg, had been a free agent since January after her representatives and the club failed to reach an agreement on a new contract. Rather than rush into a move, the German winger chose to wait patiently for the right opportunity—one that finally came calling from the reigning NWSL dynasty.

“Joining Racing Louisville was a smart move,” Blumenberg said. “This club is making international noise—three straight championships. Who wouldn’t want the chance to be part of the dynasty Coach Patão has built?”

With the NWSL season still in its early stages, Racing adds yet another weapon to an already loaded roster. Blumenberg joins fellow Germans Amira Dahl, Sophia Kleinherne, and Jule Brand, the latter of whom has already notched two goals since arriving earlier this season. The German pipeline has become a hallmark of head coach Filipa Patão’s vision for sustained dominance.

“Tessa is a player we’ve admired for a while,” Patão said. “She brings dynamism and balance to our right side, and her mentality fits perfectly with what we’re building here.”

Blumenberg is expected to begin training with the squad this week and could make her debut in the coming fixtures as Racing Louisville looks to stay on pace for a potential fourth straight title.
