Sunderland Star Jack Clarke out for the Season with Torn ACL

The injury Jack Clarke suffered in the Leicester match has proven to be quite serious. Results came back from testing and he has torn his ACL and will be out for seven months, effectively missing the rest of the season due to injury. Clarke was leading the EFL Championship in scoring with 23 goals in 27 matches and 2nd in assists only to teammate Patrick Roberts with 9. He has been spectacular and will be hard to replace. Sunderland has other priorities for the transfer window, so it's unlikely they will attempt to replace him with a signing. 21 year old backup French left-winger, Abdoullah Baa will be expected to step up to fill Clarke's very big shoes going forward.

Sunderland Sell Trai Hume to FC Porto

Trai Hume has been one of the standouts for Sunderland this season and in the league in general at right-back, and he has attracted the attention of clubs around Europe. FC Porto came in for the player with a £9.5M bid and it was impossible for Sunderland to say no so they have accepted his move. Sunderland has the 21 year old Frenchman, Timothée Pembélé waiting in the wings to take over the position, and he has been great in the time he has gotten this season. They will likely use the fees from this deal to purchase a new backup right-back and upgrade in left-central midfield.

Noel Buck Joins Sunderland for £1.6M

Sunderland have reinforced their midfield with the signing of 18 year old CM Neil Buck from New England Revolution of the MLS. The left-footed central midfielder will be given the #7 shirt and likely get chances to start right away as Rodgers feels he is a perfect fit for the LCM role in his 4-3-3 false 9 system.
