Manchester United Seal £24,100,000 Deal for Thomas Meunier

Manchester United have signed 26-year old right-back Thomas Meunier from Paris St. Germain for just over £24M. He will wear the #2 and be an instant starter for the team at his natural position, acting as a mentor to Diogo Dalot.

Manchester United Trigger Hamza Mendyl's Release Clause

United have triggered Schalke left-back, Hamza Mendyl's £6.3M release clause. The Moroccan will sign for the club on £26.5K weekly wages, and figures to slot in as the backup left-back following the departures of Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian earlier in the window.

Angel Gomes Sent out on Loan

One of United's most promising academy products, Angel Gomes, has finally been given a chance to go get some playing time. The midfielder is short of stature and not quite physically ready for the premier league according to most sources inside the club. He will spend a year at SC Braga, plying his trade at one of the top teams in his parents' native Portugal.

Manchester United Bring in Veteran Experience with Jeremy Mathieu

United have signed 34-year-old French center-back, Jeremy Mathieu from Sporting CP for a small £6,800,000 fee. Mathieu previously played for Barcelona, and while his career is winding down he's still a very effective left-footed center-back. With the rest of United's CB options in Bailly, Lindelof and Tuanzebe being quite young, he should provide some stability and leadership to any center-back partnership he is a part of.

Goal is to get into the champions league which requires finishing anywhere from 1st to 4th (or winning the Europa league). Right now the biggest strength is Pogba in midfield and the front 3 with Martial/Lukaku/Rashford.

As for weaknesses, long-term need to replace Herrera/Matic in midfield as they are aging. Don't really have any major holes, but could definitely do with signing an elite center-back next summer when we're hopefully heading back into the CL.
