Wolves Sell Several Fringe Players to Open Transfer Window
Wolves have started their transfer window with some house-cleaning. The club's board has sanctioned the sales of goalkeepers Will Norris and Andreas Søndergaard to MKE Ankaragücü and FC Thun respectively. Neither were showing much development at the club and had not played all year. 19-year-old center-back, Cameron John, has also seen his time at the club come to an end, joining TSV Hartberg on a permanent deal. All of these were small deals valued at a combined total of £930,000, but were necessary to trim the squad going forwards.

Wolves Complete Mario Hermoso Signing for £26.4 Million
Wolves have made their first big splash in the transfer market this season, triggering the £26.4 million release clause of Spanish center-back, Mario Hermoso from RCD Espanyol. Hermoso is a left footed center-back gifted with incredible leaping ability and pace, who can also play some left-back as well. Nuno had been searching for a better partner for Will Boly than Connor Coady, who has been poor this season, and this looks like the answer. His crafty speed and ball playing ability should be complemented well by Boly's strength and physicality. Wolves have been terrible defensively this season, conceding the most goals in the premier league with an astonishing 47 against in just 21 games. This move should hopefully help correct a major area of weakness for them this season.
Hermoso will have a difficult test to start his career in England, as his first game is expected to be against Chelsea in the FA Cup this weekend.

Wolves Send Morgan Gibbs-White on Loan
Wolverhampton have agreed to loan central midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White to TSG Hoffenheim for the remainder of the season. The 18 year old central midfielder has done well this year in limited minutes, but the club plans to bring in an attacking midfielder before the end of the winter transfer window. This would force Moutinho back into the rotation for the deeper CM role, severely restricting Gibbs-White's playing time. Germany has proven to be a great place for young English players to develop, and Gibbs-White should get plenty of opportunity to play at Hoffenheim.

Wolves Acquire Disgruntled Ross Barkley from Chelsea
Wolves have made another big signing this window, paying £18 million for the services of 25-year-old attacking midfielder, Ross Barkley. The English midfielder has played just two matches in all competitions at Chelsea this season, and was desperately looking for a move to earn himself more game-time. He will get plenty of that at Wolves. The squad lacks a natural attacking midfielder besides the recently promoted Will Hall, so he will step right in as a starter in the hole.
Barkley was once touted as one of the highest potential prospects in England, often being compared to the likes of Wayne Rooney. He never quite hit those heights, but perhaps Wolverhampton is the place where he can finally showcase his true potential and ability as a player. If so, he will prove very deserving of the number ten shirt that Nuno has bestowed upon him.
