The show started abruptly at the tail end of Sunday Night Heat with footage of the superstars arriving at Charlotte Coliseum. As Prototype was making his way through the parking garage a commotion was heard and the camera crew scrambled to get footage.
Prototype, accustomed to listening to headphones as he entered the venue, never heard Big Boss Man coming up behind him and was brutally attacked, including several strikes to the knee with a club. Prototype was being helped to his feet by medical staff when the footage switched to the opening of Judgement Day.

Shortly before the Hardcore Championship Gauntlet Match was set the begin an announcement was made that instead of a Gauntlet Match the competitors would be facing off in a fatal four way cage match!

Prototype nearly escapes the cage before Van Dam drags him back in.
Shamrock goes after the previously tenderized knee of Prototype and gets the win via submission.
Shamrock celebrates with his new hardware.
