The Birth of Blade Championship Wrestling

Out of a humble high school in Memphis, Tennessee, emerged the birth of a new independent wrestling promotion, Blade Championship Wrestling, or BCW for short. The promotion had been started up by a local indy star, Barron Blade, as an opportunity to give some of the best talent on the independent wrestling scene a chance to showcase their skills in Bluff City. While the company was set to start small with only Barron's local high school gym and parking lot available as venues, he had a plan to grow it to become a company that could rival the major global promotions like All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and of course the big dog in the industry, World Wrestling Entertainment.

Over the next few days, Barron plans to roll out and announce the promotions initial roster of sixteen superstars, including himself and his two best friends Cole Quinn and El Mago (left to right in the image above). When the promotion finally kicks off at the beginning of May, a tournament will play out over four weeks to crown the first ever BCW World Champion, the most prestigious (and only) championship belt in the company. BCW intends to offer a more hard-hitting wrestling style in which wrestlers can interact more with the fans. That means that almost every single match will be No Holds Barred, allowing for superstars to spend more time outside the ring. Additionally, wins and losses will actually mean something as each superstar will have their all-time records tracked, and those will be combined with match quality and quality of opponent to determine the weekly Power Rankings. The plan here is for superstars to earn their way to the top of the company through legitimate graft and success rather than waiting around for management to hand them opportunities.
