BCW Championship Tournament Seedings & Bracket Announced

Image
During the inaugural month of BCW in May of this year, a tournament will take place to crown BCW's first official World Champion. All sixteen wrestlers currently signed to the promotion will be eligible to compete, and have had their names entered in a random draw to determine their seedings and matchups. After the tournament is over, not only will a champion be crowned, but a new set of Power Rankings will be established based on the performance of each competitor in the competition. Additionally, the winner of the 3rd place match will become the #1 contender for the belt, taking on the winner in a feud for the championship in June.

The tournament schedule will be as follows with exactly four matches taking place per weekly show:
  • Week 1: First Half of the Round of 16
  • Week 2: Second Half of the Round of 16
  • Week 3: Quarter-Finals
  • Week 4: Semi-Finals, 3rd Place Match and Final

May Season 1 | Week 1 | Memphis, TN

Match #1: (#1) Cole Quinn (0-0) vs. (#16) Donny Zenk (0-0) | Falls Count Anywhere | BCW World Championship Round of 16
Donny Zenk attacked Cole Quinn from behind with a bat during his entrance to gain the early advantage. The damage done by that was enough to keep him on top throughout the contest, and he eventually hit the Twist of Fate and a Diving Moonsault to pick up the victory and knock Quinn out of the competition.

Match #2: (#9) El Mago (0-0) vs. (#8) Sun Moon Chen (0-0) | Falls Count Anywhere | BCW World Championship Round of 16
Sun-Moon Chen came out hot looking to make an instant impact against El Mago. He barely let the Luchador get any offense in throughout the contest. At one point, Chen locked in the Sharpshooter and nearly forced El Mago to submit before he got to the ropes. But when El Mago got back up, Chen was waiting for him and ran through him with his Kinshasa finisher to get the three count.

Match #3: (#5) Barron Blade (0-0) vs. (#12) Bulk Bronson (0-0) | Falls Count Anywhere | BCW World Championship Round of 16
Two of the favourites to win this competition have been drawn against each other in the first round. The CEO, Barron Blade started out well on top, eventually knocking Bronson to the outside where the match continued. Bronson started to get back into it at this point as Barron had trouble dealing with his strength with more space available outside the ring. Bulk made a crucial error though when he got over-eager and went for the Spear. Barron dodged it, sending Bulk crashing into the steel steps, and then he picked him up and hit the Step Kick on him to knock him out and pick up the victory.

Main Event: (#13) "Pretty Boy" Elvis (0-0) vs. (#4) Apollo (0-0) | Falls Count Anywhere | BCW World Championship Round of 16
Elvis targeted the legs of Apollo early, looking to ground the boxing superstar, but Apollo recovered. He then responded by targeting the face of "Pretty Boy" Elvis, and Elvis simply did not handle that well. He seemed more concerned about his looks being damaged than actually winning the match, and ended up paying for that by getting put to sleep with a Knockout Punch from the Knockout Artist, Apollo, who moved on to the next round of the tournament.
