BACKGROUND
Jen Hayabusa, also known as "The Young Lion" Azrael, cut his teeth in New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2015.
There, with the other students to the wrestling industry, one to which was Jay Pierce, were close friends as they both learned and honed their skills under Hirooki Goto.
Though a rising star in Japan, earning the merits of respect from other NJPW stars with his performances, Azrael fell short in qualifying in the 2017 Young Lion Cup, as Pierce would go on and soar in the business.
Hayabusa would take his name and reputation and travel the world.
He found him-self working under the promotions Game Changer Wrestling and Major League Wrestling, refining his skills as he worked as a "ronin", so to speak.
Without much traction in either promotions, he almost found him-self as a jobber-for-hire.
While it was decent money and still was able to put on four-star matches, Hayabusa was unsatisfied with his career.
In early 2019, after heading back to Japan, he continued his training under Goto, while not being booked on any cards for NJPW.
After some time, connections, and convincing, Tyson Kidd took Hayabusa under his wing and trained him.
Studying under the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon, Hayabusa was then introduced to the WWE Performance Center.
After a full year of impressionable reactions, Hayabusa earned him-self a NXT contract.
But little did he know, his big break, would be a long road ahead. This is where his story starts...

Man that NXT roster is full of everything
bloodline, Jinder, Happy Corbin, Mandy, Sasha, & Bayley. Hayabusa got drafted into the toughest league already.
“Hope they don’t spit you out, kid”
