Dudleys finna get ganged up on!
Another good show, excited for the PPV
Yeah they are certainly causing a lot of trouble in the tag division. We'll see if it comes back to bite them.

Match #1: 5-Man Normal: Eddie Guerrero (C) vs. Kane vs. Chris Jericho vs. Booker T vs. Randy Orton for the Intercontinental Championship
The deck was stacked heavily against Eddie Guerrero in this one, and things weren't made any easier with the other four competitors targeting him from the outset. He was almost never a factor in a match where he was supposed to be defending his title. Each of the other four competitors came close to winning. Booker T hit a Book End on Jericho in the center of the ring, but a slow count from the ref allowed Orton to break up the pin. Orton nearly put Booker T out of commission with a punt kick but he dodged at the last moment. And Kane looked to have it won after a chokeslam on Orton. However, before Kane could go for the pin, Booker T threw him out of the ring and tried to get the pin himself. It seemed like a smart strategy until Y2J grabbed both his legs, and locked Booker in the Walls of Jericho, forcing him to tap out. Jericho is your new Intercontinental Champion!
Winner: Chris Jericho by Pinfall

Match #2: Two on Two Tag Team: Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz (C) for the World Tag Team Championships
This match devolved into utter chaos. After the Dudleyz nearly put the Hardyz away with a 3-D on Matt for a near-fall, the action spilled to the outside of the ring. Both teams were beating the holy hell out of each other at ringside, and simply lost track of the 10 count. Bubba was able to slide back into the ring in time, but Matt Hardy was being wailed on by D-Von and failed to meet the 10-count. The Dudleyz were awarded the win, however a title cannot change hands on a count out, so the Hardy Boyz remain World Tag Team Champions.
Winner: Dudley Boyz by Count Out

Match #3: Two on Two Tag Team: Hart Foundation vs. Edge & Christian
This was a fun matchup between two face tag teams. The more experience Hart Foundation would come out on top with Bret Hart locking in the Sharpshooter on Christian to pick up the win for his team. This win establishes the Hart Foundation firmly as the #3 team in the tag division, and they should be next in line to take on whoever comes out on top in the feud between the Hardyz and Dudleyz
Winner: Hart Foundation by Submission

Match #4: One on One Normal: Lita vs. Trish Stratus (C) for the WWE Women's Championship
Lita promised Trish and the WWE universe that she would become the new Women's Champion at Backlash... well that was not to be. She looked poised to win, perched atop the top rope ready to deliver a Swanton Bomb, but Trish was playing possum and she quickly sprang to her feet and tripped Lita up on the ropes. This gave Trish just enough time to recover and hit her with the Stratusfaction tor to the three-count to retain her championship.
Winner: Trish Stratus by Pinfall

Match #5: One on One Normal: Shelton Benjamin vs. Big Show (C) for the United States Championship
Wow... the Big Show has never bee dominated so thoroughly before. Shelton Benjamin proved to be every bit as advertised in this match, putting on an athletic showcase the likes of which has rarely been seen before in the WWE. He was all over Show from the onset, and while the giant did get a good sequence of offense in, it was shortlived. After hitting a spear, Show geared up for a chokeslam, but Shelton ducked under his arm and seemingly in an instant, sprung up with a superkick that knocked Show out cold. Not only is Shelton Benjamin the new United States Champion, but he might just be the best new thing WWE has to offer right now.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin by Pinfall

Match #6: One on One Normal: British Bulldog vs. Kurt Angle
This was a good technical match to lead into the main event. Bulldog and Angle are both great mat wrestlers, but Angle is the best and he showed it in this one, eventually working over Bulldog's ankles and locking him in the Ankle Lock for a submission victory.
Winner: Kurt Angle by Submission

Match #7: One on One No Holds Barred: Undertaker vs. Triple H (C) for the WWE Championship
Triple H's championship reign has come to an end. The Game used every trick in the book to try to retain his title. With the No Holds Barred stipulation in place he made regular use of his trusted sledgehammer, landing several heavy blows to the midsection and legs of Taker, but none were enough to put him down. Even after two pedigrees, The Phenom was still able to kick out and continue fighting. Eventually, after HHH had avoided it a few times, Taker nailed him with a chokeslam and followed that up with the Last Ride to put down the champion for good. With no Evolution around to save him, no backup plan and no way out, HHH was pinned in the center of the ring by Undertaker, who became the new WWE Champion.
Winner: Undertaker by Pinfall

Awesome PPV. Like that most matches ended with a winner. I stopped watching when every match seemed to be ending with interference or DQ.

Jericho is a great IC, very charismatic.
Glad to see the Hardyz keep the belt. Will be interested to see how the Hardyz/Dudleyz/Harts/E&C angles play out between now and the next PPV.
Slightly odd order of the two tag matches but NBD.
Surprised to see Trish beat Lita. I always thought Lita was the better wrestler.
Not surprised Benjamin worked over Big Show. All he's good at is being big.
Angle vs BBD sounds a bit boring, expected winner there.
HHH losing is my favorite. Never liked that guy.

Are there different versions of Taker in the game or just biker?

Trish is rated slightly higher than Lita in the game fwiw lol. Lita is definitely the better wrestler irl though.

Shelton is really good, could see him keeping the belt for a while.

Yeah the Angle vs. BBD match wasn't great, was kind of a filler match before the main event. The main event was dope though and I think Taker is going to be a hard champ to take down. And yes there are multiple version of him. I'm using Biker Taker atm but they also have his like classic outfit from the early 90s/late 80s, Ministry of Darkness Taker and then the modern version of the Undertaker as well.

I feel like the Dudley Boyz got too many enemies right now to keep the title for long.

They actually don't have the titles lol. They won by count out at the PPV, but titles can't change hands on count out or DQ. So the Hardy Boyz are still the champs. This feud will probably keep going for a bit now.

King of the Ring Tournament Announced

Image
King of the Ring is returning for another year as the pay-per-view at the end of June. Sixteen superstars will take part in a single elimination, knockout tournament to determine who is the true king of the ring. This year's tournament comes with a twist though. Instead of just becoming king, whoever wins will be awarded the brand new King of the Ring Briefcase, which inside contains a contract allowing the superstar to have a match for the WWE Championship any time and anywhere they want.

This raises the stakes significantly as the tournament is no longer just for robes, a crown and bragging rights, but also the opportunity to become the number one superstar on the roster and represent the WWE as its champion. The tournament begins at the start of June and the format will look as follows with the semi-finals and final taking place at the PPV at the end of June:

June Week 1: 1st Half of the Round of 16
June Week 2: 2nd Half of the Round of 16
June Week 3: 1st Half of Quarter-Finals
June Week 4: 2nd Half of Quarter-Finals
King of the Ring PPV: Semi-Finals and Finals

June Week 1 | Houston, TX

Image
Match #1: Two on Two Tag Team: Hardy Boyz vs. Dudley Boyz
Vince McMahon sanctioned yet another match between these two tag teams to start off the show, which surprisingly was not a rematch for the title despite a screwy finish to the pay-per-view. The Dudleyz were livid about this and sneaked on the Hardyz from behind as they were doing their entrance to assault them. The match still went on however, and despite starting with a disadvantage, Matt and Jeff were able to pull off the win. After Jeff countered a cutter from Bubba, he hit a quick Twist of Fate on him to roll him up for the pin. Is this end of the feud or will things continue between these two rival teams?
Winners: Hardy Boyz by Pinfall

Match #2: One on One Normal: Undertaker vs. The Rock
No rest for the weary, as the new WWE Champion, Undertaker, was set to face the People's Champion, The Rock in singles action. Of course, Triple H couldn't help himself and decided to come out to "watch" from ringside. The match continued as normal until Taker whipped the Rock into the corner hard and knocked him down. HHH got up from his chair at that point to start talking trash to him, and with the distraction, the champ took his eyes off The Rock. That was a mistake as The Rock was able to take advantage by hurling Taker into the ringpost, rolling him back into the ring and hitting a Rock Bottom to get the victory.
Winner: The Rock by Pinfall

Match #3: KOTR Round of 16: Steve Austin (#1) vs. Rikishi (#16)
Rikishi knew he had to gain every advantage he could to defeat someone of Austin's caliber in the opening match of the tournament. So he tried to start a brawl outside before the bell rung. That didn't really work however, as Austin came out on top in that melee. The Samoan star was able to shock Austin by kicking out of his first stunner, but Austin quickly rallied to hit a Lou Thesz Press and a second Stunner to advance to the quarter-finals in relatively easy fashion.
Winner: Steve Austin by Pinfall

Match #4: KOTR Round of 16: Eddie Guerrero (#8) vs. Big Show (#9)
This was a matchup between the two middle seeds in the tournament, who also happen to be the two recently dethroned mid-card champions with Show and Guerrero having lost their United States and Intercontinental titles to Shelton Benjamin and Chris Jericho respectively at Backlash. You could feel the desperation coming off of both guys to turn around their fortunes and advance far in this tournament. Big Show had a significant size and power advantage, but the resiliency shown by Eddie Guerrero was incredible. He kicked out of not one, but two Weapon of Mass Destruction punches to stay alive. He later showed an insane feat of strength, hitting the Three Amigos suplexes on Big Show. He followed that up with a Frog Splash, which Big Show kicked out of, but Eddie immediately climbed the ropes to hit a second one and get the pinfall victory. Eddie's 5-match losing streak is over and he's into the King of the Ring Quarter-Finals.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero by Pinfall

Match #5: KOTR Round of 16: Bret "Hitman" Hart (#4) vs. British Bulldog (#13)
The younger fans may not know this, but these two have a lot of history. Both trained in the Hart Dungeon, both members (present and past) of the Hart Foundation. Bulldog seemed to know Hart like the back of his hand, and he was reversing every move The Hitman tried to land on him. It looked almost like British Bulldog was going to get the upset after hitting a running powerslam, but Bret was just able to get his feet on the ropes at the last second to break the pin. Later, Bulldog would go for a school-boy roll up to get a sneaky win, but Bret countered that into the Sharpshooter, and Bulldog was forced to tap out with nowhere to go in the center of the ring.
Winner: Bret Hart by Submission

Main Event: KOTR Round of 16: Kurt Angle (#5) vs. Booker T (#12) w/ nWo
The deck was completely stacked against Angle in this one. Despite coming in as the higher seed, he was really the underdog and it showed. He's a better wrestler than Booker, but Nash and Hall accompanying their nWo buddy at ringside made things very challenging for him. Case in point, Angle had Booker beat after a german suplex and an Angle Slam, but Scott Hall decided to have a conversation with the referee just as that happened to prevent Angle from actually getting the 3-count. Later, Nash would provide a distraction allowing Booker to blindside Kurt with a Book End for a near fall. The cheating reached its peak at the end when Hall threw a steel chair into the ring, and Booker picked it up and wedged it in the corner. When Angle returned to the ring, Booker whipped him face-first into the chair and rolled a dazed Angle up for the win. After the match, the nWo added insult to injury by stomping out Kurt Angle. Booker is going to be very difficult to eliminate from this tournament if the nWo are allowed to continue to "manage" him at ringside.
Winner: Booker T by Pinfall
