Forcing myself to get this going again tomorrow. Trimmed the roster a bit, gonna make things more manageable. No CAWs to help with immersion. Let's go.

The Associated Press

HARTFORD, CT --- The tournament for Jacqueline's vacated WWE Championship starts this Monday Night on RAW. Eight women will compete for the chance to become the top female superstar in the company. They have been seeded based on their past performance in the WWE, and Trish Stratus and Lita have claimed the #1 and #2 seeds respectively because of their number of previous reigns as champion (3 and 2 respectively). Rounding things out with the next six seeds in order are Chyna, Nikki Bella, Bianca Belair, Ronda Rousey, Asuka and Rhea Ripley. Trish Stratus (#1) will face Rhea Ripley (#8) in the opening match, with the winner advancing to the Fatal 4-Way final at Backlash. Next week, Lita (#2) will face Aasuka (#7) for the second place in the championship match. This is an exciting time for women's wrestling and a rare occasion where WWE is truly showcasing the women's talents with a massive tournament.

Honestly might do that. Could be a Kane or Undertaker like character with the right booking.

Match #1: Xavier Woods vs. Undertaker | One on One :onehalfstar:
Xavier Woods got off to a quick start here despite the obvious size advantage, but that momentum was quickly brought to a halt by The Deadman. From then on it was all Taker as he simply ragdolled the New Day member all over the ring. Taker eventually went for a chokeslam on Woods, but shockingly Xavier was able to kick out just before the three count. That frustrated Taker and that momentary loss of focus cost him as when he turned his attention back to Woods, he rolled him up in a small package and stole the victory. Post match, Woods and the rest of the New Day started stomping out Undertaker before Kane came out to make the save.

Match #2: John Cena vs. Batista | One on One :threestar:
The Undisputed WWE Champion Batista hit the Batista Bomb after a grueling match between these two to put the United States Champion, Cena down for the count. After the match, surprisingly, the two heels shook hands in a mutual display of respect for each other. Perhaps this won't be Cena's last chance at the top belt in the company.

Match #3: Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs. The Rock | One on One :fourstar:
The Rock took on newcomer Seth Rollins in the third match of the night, and this was definitely much more of a challenge for the People's Champion than he expected. Rollins seemed to have every single one of The Rock's moves scouted and was ready with a counter for each of them. Rock was never able to truly take control of the match as Rollins kept himself in it with these counters as well as his own array of technical moves. Seth nearly put The Rock's lights out at one point with his patented move, the Curb Stomp, but he was able to roll out of the way at the last second. A fatigued Rock stumbled to his feet as Rollins attempted to hit him with the Pedigree, a move he learned during his time studying under Triple H, but this time it was The Rock who had Rollins scouted. He reversed out of that and hit Rollins with a devastating Spinebuster before landing the People's Elbow on him to pick up the pinfall. After the match, Rollins tried to get a cheap attack in on Rock from behind but he ducked out of the way and beat Rollins back with a series of punches before Seth was forced to retreat.

Match #4: Trish Stratus (#1) vs. Rhea Ripley (#8) | One on One | WWE Women's Championship - Round 1 :threestar:
Rhea Ripley made her debut on RAW flanked by Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio, the rest of the group she led known as The Judgment Day. Her entrance was menacing and intimidating and it was clear this would be more of a challenge for Stratus than the typical newcomer to the company. Rhea brutalized Trish. She was much stronger than the former Women's Champion and showed it by beating her senseless all over the ring. Rhea looked to have her beat as well in a big first round upset after hitting her with her Riptide finisher, but Trish was able to kick out at two. And here is where the rookie mistake came in, Rhea got frustrated and her partner Dominik Mysterio slipped her a pair of brass knuckles to knock Trish out for good with. Rhea did exactly that, but the referee saw it and disqualified her handing the victory and a spot in the final to Stratus.

Main Event: Randy Orton vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Gunther | One on One | Intercontinental Championship :fivestar:
An arrogant Randy Orton who had just been awarded the Intercontinental Championship prior to this show came out to brag to the WWE audience about how great he was. But Vince McMahon was having absolutely none of that. McMahon came out and declared to Randy that he wouldn't just be talking to close the show, he would be putting that belt on the line, "Hey Randy, they call the Intercontinental title the worker's belt. Well believe me, you're going to put in work tonight. You'll be defending that title against not one but TWO of my newest signings to this company. Allow me to introduce you to the RING GENERAL, Gunther and the KING OF STRONG STYLE, Shinsuke Nakamura. Good luck." These three then proceeded to put on an absolute instant classic. The powerhouse style of Gunther combined perfectly with the striking and brawling styles of Nakamura and Orton respectively to create a superb contest. At various points throughout the match it looked like anyone could win and the fans were on the edge of their seats for the whole thing. Late on, Gunther hoisted Orton up, setting up for a Powerbomb to win the match but Orton was able to use his agility to counter it and strike Gunther with the RKO. The champ looked set to retain but almost out of nowhere, Nakamura came running into the ring with the Kinshasa, smashing the champ in the head with a powerful knee strike to knock him out cold and pick up the victory. Nakamura is your new intercontinental champion!
