Match #1: Kurt Angle vs. Big E w/ New Day | One on One
The United States Champion took on the debuting Big E who came out with his New Day faction mates, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. Big E was giving Angle all he could handle, but the Champ eventually caught him with an Angle Slam. He went for the cover but Kofi Kingston pulled the referee out of the ring to prevent him from making the three count. Angle went out of the ring to argue with Kofi and the referee tossed Kofi from ringside. When Angle got back into the ring, though, Big E was waiting and hit him with his Big Ending finisher to get the 1, 2, 3 in a shady but impressive victory over the United States Champion in his debut.

Match #3: Rock vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Bret "Hitman" Hart | Triple Threat | WWE Championship #1 Contender's Match
After a long, hard-fought match. Bret Hart had Brock Lesnar in a Sharpshooter for an extended period of time. He nearly forced The Beast to submit, but The Rock came back into the ring and clocked Hart from behind. He then picked up the pieces of a badly hurt Lesnar and hit him with the People's Elbow to pin him and earn a match with Batista for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Match #4: Ascension vs. D-Generation X | Tag Team | Tag Team Championship Tournament Semi-Final
The Ascension, an ominous, almost cult like tag team made their debut bearing symbols of the Illuminati and other secret societies. They weren't exactly slouches in the ring either. The duo made it very difficult for D-Generation X, one of WWE's best tag teams, hitting them with brutal move after brutal move. For a while the action spilled to the outside of the ring and that's where the game changed. Konnor of the Ascension powerbombed HBK outside the ring, basically taking him out of the contest, while Viktor rolled HHH back in. The both then slid to opposite corners and hit HHH with their tag finisher, the Fall of Man, to pin him and get the victory. After the huge debut win, they added injury to insult, pummeling both HBK and HHH and tossing them in a heap outside the ring. With the win, The Ascension booked their place in the Tag Team Championship tournament finals at the Royal Rumble to face the winners of The Usos vs. Brothers of Destruction match next week.

Main Event: John Cena vs. Randy Orton | One on One
John Cena and the Intercontinental Champion, Randy Orton, faced off in one on one non-title action in the main event. These two both got their start in WWE at around the same time coming out of the OVW developmental promotion. This was expected to be a good match, but Cena ruined it. He was getting dominated by Orton for a stretch and eventually just got fed up and walked out on the match. He was counted out and Orton was awarded the victory, and boos for Cena's non-competitiveness filled the arena to end the show.

Match #1: Goldberg vs. Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Ultimate Warrior vs. Edge | 6-Man Battle Royal
Vince McMahon opened up RAW by announcing that with Prototype fired several weeks ago, a 6-man battle royal would be taking place to determine the #30 entrant in the Royal Rumble on Sunday. The match featured the returns of two WWE hall of famers in Bret Hart and Ultimate Warrior, but it was the former who would emerge victorious. Hart eliminated Stone Cold, Brock Lesnar and finally Goldberg at the end to claim the coveted 30th spot in the Royal Rumble in front of his hometown Calgary crowd.

Match #2: Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan | One on One
Daniel Bryan made a return after several weeks out of action sporting a new look with much longer hair and a large beard. Along with the new look came a renewed fire in the ring and he made things very difficult for Randy, nearly beating the IC Champ with a Yes Lock before he was able to scramble to the ropes and break up the submission. Orton later caught Bryan with a sneaky RKO out of nowhere to pick up the victory. After the win though, John Cena rushed Orton from behind and hit him with the F-U before standing over him and declaring that he'd gotten a request approved for a match for the IC title at the Royal Rumble and last week's walk-out was all a part of the his mind games.

Match #3: Jacqueline & Asuka vs. Beth Phoenix & Paige | Tag Team
Jacqueline and Beth Phoenix were set to face off in tag action where they could each pick their partners. Both divas selected newcomers to RAW as their partners in Asuka and Paige respectively. It was the former who would have her time in the sun though. Jacqueline took out Beth Phoenix with a Rolling Samoan Drop, then tagged in the rookie. Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock on Phoenix and forced the Glamazon to tap out humiliatingly in her first match ever on RAW. Not the way Phoenix wants to go into the Divas Championship match at the Rumble, but what a debut for the young Japanese superstar, Asuka.

Match #4: Usos vs. Brothers of Destruction | Tag Team | Tag Team Championship Tournament Semi-Final
Kane got the pinfall victory over Jey Uso as the Brothers of Destruction defeated Rikishi's sons, The Usos, on their main roster debut. The twins had previously looked good last year in a few appearances on Velocity, but they struggled here against two monsters in Kane and Undertaker. The Demon and the Deadman added insult to injury after, laying waste to the Usos even further. I'm sure the youngsters will not forget about that going forward, however. The Brothers of Destruction advance to the finals at the Royal Rumble to face The Ascension for the WWE World Tag Team Championships.

Main Event: Kurt Angle vs. Jinder Mahal | One on One
In the main event of RAW, a Calgary native, Jinder Mahal, made his debut. The superstar of Indian heritage entered flanked by his two assistants, the Singh brothers and dubbed himself the Modern Day Maharajah. Vince announced before this match that if Mahal won like Big E had last week, the two of them would be entered into a Triple Threat match with Kurt Angle for the United States Championship. If he lost, Angle would face Big E one on one. Mahal had an incredible start to the match with his mixture of athleticism and raw power causing the US Champ some serious problems. After hitting a Double Knee Gutbuster, Mahal looked to put away Angle with his finisher, the Khallas, but Angle reversed it into a trio of German Suplexes. The Olympic Gold Medallist then locked in an Ankle Lock on Mahal in the center of the ring, and after writhing in pain for several seconds, Mahal was forced to tap. There will be no triple threat at the Royal Rumble.

Match #1: Ascension vs. Brothers of Destruction | Tag Team | WWE Tag Team Championships
The Ascension started this match well, double-teaming The Undertaker, but things took a turn for the worse when he was finally able to tag Kane in to shift the momentum. Kane regained control of the match before tagging Taker back in. Taker was dominating Viktor of The Ascension and then Konnor tried to jump in and help but ended up receiving a Chokeslam for his efforts. After that the Brothers of Destruction Double Chokeslammed Viktor in the center of the ring and pinned him to claim the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Match #2: Beth Phoenix vs. Jacqueline (c) | One on One | Divas Championship
Jacqueline beat Beth Phoenix comfortably in this match to retain her Divas Championship.

Match #3: Jinder Mahal vs. Shane McMahon | Backstage Brawl | Hardcore Championship
Shane McMahon was backstage speaking with his father, "If I'm going to be a contracted WWE superstar, then at least give me a match." Vince said, "Sure you want a match you got one, in fact you can compete for the Hardcore Championship RIGHT NOW." Shane looked around in confusion before being clubbed from behind by Jinder Mahal as the backstage brawl got underway. Shane was getting his ass kicked as the action spilled from backstage to the parking lot, but he gained the advantage when he whipped Jinder into a car window. After that he hit his trademark punches, knocking Jinder out completely to pick up the KO win and become the holder of the reinstated Hardcore Championship.

Match #4: Big E vs. Kurt Angle (c) | One on One | United States Championship
Kurt Angle jumped Big E from behind before this match got started and gained the advantage on his challenger. They eventually got to the ring, where Big E's size and strength once again became a factor as he started to control the contest against Angle. Kurt was getting drubbed and looked set to lose to the New Day member for the second time in three weeks. Big E tossed Angle out of the ring and while outside, Angle grabbed a bat from under the ring slyly. When Big E came out after him, Angle blasted him over the head with it, as the ref called for a disqualification. Angle continued to assault Big E until Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods from the New Day came out and chased him away. Big E picked up the win, but because the title can only change hands by pinfall or submission, Angle retained his belt.

Match #5: John Cena vs. Randy Orton (c) | One on One | Intercontinental Championship
John Cena and Randy Orton, two of the fastest rising stars in the business put on an absolute show here. Both superstars gave it everything they had, including kicking out of each other's finishers the F-U and RKO respectively to show massive resilience. Orton started to pick up momentum after kicking out of the F-U and knocked Cena to the ground before lining up a Punt Kick to incapacitate the challenger and win the match, but Cena dodged it at the last second and tripped Cena up. Realizing that a regular F-U wouldn't be enough to beat Orton, Cena hoisted Orton up to the top rope and then delivered the F-U from the top turnbuckle in a devastatingly impactful move on the champ. Orton didn't have enough to kick out as Cena ended The Viper's 150 day reign as Intercontinental Champion, winning it for the first time himself in the process. After the match, Cena offered a handshake to the defeated champ but Orton simply slapped his hand away and walked off in frustration. Perhaps this isn't the last we'll see of these two facing off.

Match #5: The Rock vs. Batista (c) | One on One | WWE Championship
Since having to resort to a Money in the Bank cash in to win the WWE championship, Batista has been trying to prove that he deserves the spot that he currently holds as the face of the company. Well he erased all doubts in this competition. The Animal, completely dominated the People's Champion. While The Rock did kick out of his first Batista Bomb, Batista just kept going and a follow up Spinebuster and second Batista Bomb were simply too much for The Great One to deal with as he was pinned to the mat for a three count.
