WWE's Universe Shifts: A New Era of Brand Warfare Unveiled

Image

In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the landscape of professional wrestling, WWE is embarking on a brand split starting September 2005 in an ambitious effort to create distinct identities for RAW and Smackdown!. Spearheading their respective shows are two seasoned maestros of the industry - Eric Bischoff for RAW and Paul Heyman for Smackdown! - both tasked with shaping the destinies of their rosters.

RAW's Powerhouse Lineup:

Under the stewardship of Eric Bischoff, RAW has assembled a formidable roster featuring a mix of established legends and rising stars. The coveted World Heavyweight Championship will be the crown jewel of the red brand, with Edge relinquishing the WWE Championship to assume the role of the inaugural titleholder.

The RAW roster includes luminaries such as Edge, Umaga (United States Champion), Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Ronda Rousey, and a mix of powerful competitors ready to dominate the scene.

Smackdown's Star-Studded Assembly:

On the blue brand, Paul Heyman's strategy revolves around crafting an eclectic roster that promises a dynamic blend of athleticism and charisma. Brock Lesnar, Heyman's first pick, adds a formidable presence to Smackdown!'s arsenal.

The WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and Light Heavyweight Championship on Smackdown! are currently vacant, setting the stage for intense competition to determine the rightful champions. The roster features stalwarts like The Rock, John Cena, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, and an array of talented performers eager to etch their mark on the blue brand.

Shared Pay-Per-View Spectacles:

While RAW and Smackdown! will conduct their own separate weekly shows, both brands will converge on shared pay-per-view events, creating an electrifying atmosphere as the best of each brand collide in epic showdowns.

Women's Division Tournament on RAW:

RAW's Women's Championship will be determined through a tournament, showcasing the incredible talent in the women's division. Asuka, Lita, Trish Stratus, Bianca Belair, and others will vie for the honor of becoming the first Women's Champion on the red brand.

As WWE enters this new era of brand warfare, fans can anticipate thrilling rivalries, unexpected alliances, and a level of competition that will redefine the very essence of sports entertainment. The brand split is set to usher in an unprecedented chapter, and both RAW and Smackdown! are primed to captivate audiences with their distinct flavors of in-ring action and storytelling prowess. The stage is set, and the WWE Universe eagerly awaits the unfolding drama that will shape the future of professional wrestling.

Match #1: Cody Rhodes vs. Hulk Hogan | One on One | US Championship #1 Contender :threehalfstar:
The American Nightmare took on the Real American Hero for the chance to face Umaga at Hell in the Cell for his United States Championship. Umaga is in the midst of an eight month run as champion. Cody Rhodes came out like a house on fire against the favored Hogan and nearly put him away early with a Vertebreaker and Cross Rhodes, but had to settle for a two count. Hogan tried to get back into things, hitting Cody with a few stiff shots and eventually a Big Boot, but Cody was able to counter when he went for his patented Leg Drop. A Cross Rhodes seemingly out of nowhere after that was enough to put Hogan down for the count as Rhodes picked up a huge win. After the match, Umaga came out to confront Rhodes, holding the US title high up in the air.

Match #2: Asuka vs. Trish Stratus | One on One | Women's Championship Qualifier :fourstar:
Eric Bischoff announced that an 8-woman qualifying tournament would take place for a Fatal 4-Way match at Hell in a Cell for the vacant Women's Championship. Over the next four weeks there would be four randomly selected one on one matches between the eight women on the roster, with the four winners advancing to the championship match. Asuka and Trish were first up on the docket. Asuka's unique Japanese style had Trish off her game for most of the matchup. She got locked in the Asuka Lock early, but was able to scramble to the ropes to avoid submitting. She rallied with a Chick Kick and later hit the Stratusfaction but Asuka kicked out to Trish's disbelief. Her frustration got the best of her and she gave Asuka too much time to recover. When she picked her up, Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock in the center of the ring this time, forcing Trish to submit as she advanced to the championship match.

Main Event: Edge (c) vs. Hurricane | One on One | World Heavyweight Championship :threestar:
Edge took on the Hurricane as the superhero was owed a rematch for his title after losing it in the battle royal at Summerslam. Edge dominated Hurricane though as it looked like his fairytale run had finally come to an end after a vicious Spear. Edge's dreams, however, sooned turned to nightmares as the lights went out completely and when they turned back on, Randy Orton was standing behind him. Orton spun Edge around and hit him with a vicious RKO before grabbing the mic and stating, "Edge, I was never pinned or submitted to lose that championship. So I'll be taking back what's rightfully mine from you at Hell in a Cell. Run."
