June Week 4 | Uniondale, NY

Match #1: Two on Two Tag Team | Undertaker & Kane vs. Triple H & Batista w/Ric Flair
A match was announced in which Triple H tagging with Batista would face Undertaker and a partner of his choice. HHH and his Evolution buddies were shocked when Kane's pyro came bursting from the stage and the Devils' Favourite Demon came out to tag team with his brother. It seemed like this would be too much for HHH and Batista to overcome, but they had an ace in the hole, Ric Flair. While Taker and Kane were in control for most of the match, Flair was continually distracting the ref while Taker tried to cover up Batista and HHH for pins on several occasions. Eventually, Kane got fed up of this and ran all the way around the ring to chokeslam Flair at ringside. Taker took his eyes off Batista for a second in the commotion, and the Animal was able to spin him around and slam him with a Batista Bomb to get the win. Being pinned by one of HHH's lackeys pissed off Undertaker and as Evolution walked happily up the ramp Taker had this to say, "No more games, no more distractions and no more interference from your buddies. At King of the Ring, Hunter, it's going to be you versus me one on one for the WWE championship... inside a cell. Your friends will not be able to save you and you WILL rest in peace."
Winners: Triple H & Batista by Pinfall

Match #2: One on One Normal | Lita vs. Beth Phoenix
Backstage after the first match, Trish was having a discussion with Lita. She told Lita she could have a title match under one condition, she had to beat the superstar of her choice tonight... right now. Lita accepted and headed out to the ring and shortly after in came the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix, arguably the strongest woman in the company. Lita used her speed and wit to her advantage though, taking Beth out at the legs several times to ground her, and avoiding most of her power moves. A twist of fate and a very impressive moonsault would be enough to put her down for a three count. Afterwards, Trish with her belt in hand and stood face to face with her challenger. The women's championship match is ON for King of the Ring, Lita vs. Trish Stratus.
Winner: Lita by Pinfall.

Match #3: KOTR Quarter-Final | The Rock (#2) vs. Randy Orton (#10)
A matchup of one of the greatest superstars in WWE history, The Rock, vs. one of the biggest up and coming talents in the wrestling industry, Randall Keith Orton. Orton is a member of Evolution, but he specifically made a request to HHH for none of them to interfere in this match, he wanted to prove he could defeat The Rock all by himself. Rock and Orton got into things right away, they locked up and both traded fists and slams and things look very even to start out. Then, the people started to get behind The Rock more vocally and he responded. Clothesline, clothesline, spinebuster, and Orton was down. The Rock went for the People's Elbow after that but just as he got to the final phase of it, Orton stuck two fingers up and jabbed The Rock in the eyes unseen by the referee. Orton sprung up, dragged a stunned and blind Rock to the ropes and did his signature hanging DDT. The crowd urged The Rock to respond, but a hungry Orton also slammed his fists into the ground begging the Rock to get up at the same time. Once The Rock did get to his feet, Orton hit him with the RKO and pinned him to knock him out of the tournament. The Rock is still the #1 contender for the WWE title, but he will not be King of the Ring this year. Randy Orton advances to the KOTR PPV and becomes the third confirmed semi-finalist.
Winner: Randy Orton by Pinfall.

Match #4: KOTR Quarter-Final | Rey Mysterio (#14) vs. Brock Lesnar (#6)
David vs. Goliath. Not many gave Rey Mysterio much of a chance in this contest despite having beaten Shawn Michaels previously to get here. To make matters worse, Brock wasn't really interested in playing fair as he attacked Mysterio on the ramp before the match even started. Rey was able to escape and make it to the ring to start things off and even get in a little bit of offense and a 6-1-9, but it seemed to only temporarily slow down The Beast. However, like with Michaels first Sweet Chin Music, Rey was able to kick out of the F-5 miraculously. There would be no further acts of God though, as an enraged Lesnar got right back to work with a series of power moves, Suplex City and another F-5 before pinning Rey's lifeless corpse to advance to the semi-final. No Cinderella story for Mysterio.
Winner: Brock Lesnar by Pinfall.

Match #5: Hardy Boyz vs. British Bulldog & Steve Austin
In a bit of a weird matchup before the PPV, Austin looked totally disinterested. He was still annoyed at having lost last week and refused to even tag in for Bulldog. With it essentially being two on one, the Hardyz were able to make short work of Bulldog and get the victory and some momentum heading into Sunday. Afterwards, the Dudley Boyz came out to have one final staredown with the champions before the PPV. Bubba grabbed a microphone and said that he thinks it's time to end this feud once and for all, in a match both teams specialize in, a tables match. First team to put any member of the other team through a table wins the match, wins the feud and wins the WWE World Tag Team Championships.
Winners: Hardy Boyz by Pinfall.

Show Closer Promo: Shelton Benjamin
The United States Champion, Shelton Benjamin, came out to the ring to give a message to the entire WWE. He stated his frustration at having rarely featured on Smackdown! these last few weeks despite being a reigning champion, and declared that he would take on anyone who had the balls to challenge him for the title at KOTR, all they had to do was come down to the ring to accept his challenge. After a few seconds, Big Show's music came blaring from the speakers. He grabbed the mic from Shelton and told him that nobody else is getting a shot at that title until he gets his rematch, and he wants it at King of the Ring. Benjamin was happy to oblige and told Big Show that he'd be happy to school him again on Sunday before moving on to take on new challengers.

Hell in a Cell!!!

Lita gets a shot at the belt!! I don't know Beth Phoenix, sounds like Chyna?

Woah Orton takes down the Rock!?!?

Not surprised Lesnar took out Rey. Sets up a decent semi.

Weird tag match but glad to see the table match for the tag title set up.

Show vs Shelton again? Meh.

Little bit of a letdown show TBQH but makes sense to set up some PPV stuff.

You had Shelton talking about WM, thats still in April though right?

Yeah Hell in the Cell match should be fun. Beth debuted irl in like 2003 or so, and yeah she was kinda like Chyna, very strong sometimes wrestled guys. The tag match was weird for sure but I am excited for the tables. I was disappointed too when Big Show was the one who came out, but gonna roll with what the game is pushing there. The Shelton mania thing was a mistake, meant KOTR thanks for catching. Fixed.

Probably a good pick given how things have gone so far.

Damn you almost got the exact card in order...

Only thing wrong is the KOTR match is the main event, HIAC is 2nd last.

Shelton doesn't seem to be that dynamic of a personality. Seems like he won't hold the title for long.

I still got Lesnar winning the whole thing.

Shelton actually struggled a bit with that irl which is why he never became a top guy. We’ll see if things go any differently for him here.

Lesnar definitely the favourite atm

Match #1: KOTR Semi-Final | Booker T (#12) w/ nWo vs. Eddie Guerrero (#8)
Neither Booker nor Eddie was expected to make it this far in the tournament, but they're both here via a pair of upset victories. Eddie, through perseverance and resilience and Booker through his own abilities as well as the repeated interference of his New World Order buddies, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. The match began like a typical wrestling match, both superstars trading blows, holds and slam moves, and continued to be fairly evenly matched for the majority of the contest. Booker went for the Book End a few times to try to put an end to things, but Eddie Guerrero stayed quick and alert and managed to escape at the last moment to stay in the contest. Then, Eddie would have his chance to build some momentum. He caught Booker with a pair of rebound powerslams, before successfully executing the Three Amigos, but Booker was able to kick out at two and a half. With Booker still prone, Eddie started making his way to the top rope to hit the Frog Splash, the same move that had just put Austin out of the tournament last week. The script was different this time however. Scott Hall diverted the ref's attention away while Nash shoved Eddie off the top rope. As a disoriented Guerrero made his way to his feet, Booker did as well and hit him with his patented Axe Kick, leaving Eddie lying motionless in the ring. Booker rolled him up for the three count, and advanced to the King of the Ring final.
Winner: Booker T by Pinfall.

Match #2: One on One Normal | Shelton Benjamin (C) vs. Big Show for the United States Championship
The crowd wasn't really into this match, and luckily it was short so as not to suck the life out of the pay-per-view. There were a few highlights where it looked like Show might win his title back after a spear and chokeslam, but Shelton kicked out of those moves to stay in the match. He eventually was able to wear down the Big Show and lift him up into a T-Bone Suplex to finish him off and retain the title.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin by Pinfall.

Match #3: KOTR Semi-Final | Brock Lesnar (#6) w/ Paul Heyman vs. Randy Orton (#10) w/ Ric Flair
Of the recent graduates from WWE's subsidiary Ohio Valley Wrestling training promotion, a class that included John Cena, Batista, Shelton Benjamin, Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, the latter two and the competitors in this match were the biggest standouts. And that has shown in this tournament as Brock has dominated his competition while Orton has incredible wins over Kane and The Rock on his resume. Brock's size and power advantage was clear from the get-go, however, as he was able to completely ground the usually very athletic Randy Orton by wearing him down with heavy submission holds and powerful grappling moves. Orton refused to be tossed aside the way Mysterio had been in the last round though and rallied, eventually knocking down Brock with a pair of clotheslines and hitting him with his signature rope-hanging DDT. It was still fairly early in the contest but Orton again pounded the mat, begging Brock to get up in order to be put down for the count with an RKO. As The Beast rose to his feet, Orton rose up for the RKO, but Brock caught him mid-air and perched him on his shoulders. Orton shook his head and arms trying to escape, but he couldn't and Lesnar let a half-cocky, half-evil grin show before F-5ing Orton to oblivion. Orton never looked like kicking out and became Brock's latest victim as he pinned him to advance to the final of the tournament.
Winner: Brock Lesnar by Pinfall.

Match #4: One on One Normal | Trish Stratus (C) vs. Lita for the Women's Championship
Lita didn't make the same mistake as at the last PPV and had Trish much better scouted this time. Trish was the one who looked unprepared and she was backed into a corner the entire match. There were frustrating moments for the challenger however, as Trish refused to actually stay down for a 3-count and give up her title, kicking out of a pair of Twist of Fates and moonsaults. But eventually, Trish just didn't have enough left in her to stay alive as Lita hit her with one final Twist of Fate to win the match and become the new WWE Women's Champion.
Winner: Lita by Pinfall.

Match #5: Tag Team Tables | Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz (C) for the World Tag Team Championships
The Dudley Boyz came into this with a great strategy and executed it to perfection. It was a two on two match but their gameplan was to constantly keep whipping one of the Hardy Boyz out of the ring to allow them to concentrate on working over the other. Surprisingly neither team made too much use of weapons despite it being a tables match, but there were a lot of very aggressive moves being used by both sides. Early on in the contest D-Von had set up a table just outside of the ring, which hadn't been re-visited since. Bubba would re-visit that table in a major way as he superplexed Matt Hardy from inside the ring to the outside and through the table to win the match. This match wasn't quite as thrilling as we had hoped, but it nice to see this feud come to an end with the Dudleyz finally getting what they wanted, the tag titles.
Winners: Dudley Boyz by Table.

Match #6: One on One Hell in a Cell | Triple H vs. Undertaker (C) for the WWE Championship
The cell dropped down from the rafters and HHH and Taker were locked inside with nobody else able to get involved. HHH gained the advantage early by using the confined space between the ring and the cell wall to maneuver about and repeatedly slam Taker's face and body into the unforgiving steel. However, Taker rallied eventually and with a devastating powerbomb, put HHH through the cell wall. After both superstars recovered from that, the match took a turn as they both climbed to the top of the cell. A brawl ensued atop the cell structure, and as Taker started to gain the upper-hand, a concerned Triple H realized how precarious of a situation he was in, and low blowed Taker before scrambling back to safety on the floor. The action moved back to the ring after that with HHH nearly pedigreeing Undertaker to win, but again Taker took the action outside the ring and powerbombed HHH through ANOTHER portion of the cell wall. Both superstars climbed the structure again, but this time nobody would be leaving on their own terms. Undertaker caught Triple H by the neck and chokeslammed him through the top off the cell wall, leading to HHH falling helplessly to the ring below. The crowd gasped as The Game lay still in the center of the ring, but an unrelenting Taker, who was hanging from the hole in the cell, dropped down, picked up Triple H and Tombstoned him before pinning him for the convincing victory. Triple H was carted off in a stretcher after the structure was lifted and it's not certain we'll see him in action for a while after the damag he sustained.
Winner: Undertaker by Pinfall.

Main Event: KOTR Final | Booker T w/ nWo vs. Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman
Booker T had clearly watched the tape of Lesnar's last few matches and had no interest in getting in a one on one wrestling match with him that he would certainly lose. As soon as the bell rang, Booker rolled outside the ring and started using Nash and Hall as "shields" to prevent The Beast from getting to him. Any time Lesnar did get close, Booker would use a quick move to trip him up or send him flying into the ringpost or apron. Eventually though, Brock did catch up to Booker and get him back in the ring, and then he started going to work. Suplex after suplex and a series of powerbombs from Lesnar had Booker severely hurt, and after hitting an F-5 it looked like it was all over. Scott Hall came to the rescue though by starting to remove the turnbuckle cover which drew the referee's attention away while Brock was pinning Booker for what would've been a certain 3-count. Brock, enraged, ran over and tried to knock Hall away but he dodged, and Kevin Nash got in on the distraction as well. This gave Booker enough time to get up and hit Lesnar with a slam and an Axe Kick but it was only enough to get a 2 count. The match continued, with Nash and Hall continuing to provide ample distractions to prevent Lesnar from overwhelming Booker and even the odds, but eventually the referee got sick of their antics and tossed both of them from ringside. Paul Heyman, seeing his opportunity to get involved and give Brock an edge, threw a chair into the ring and tried to distract the referee. Lesnar looked at Heyman, annoyed that he would think he even needed to use a weapon to beat Booker, but unfortunately for him that was enough time for Booker to low blow him from behind and leave The Beast clutching at his jewels. Then, Booker laid out the chair Heyman had thrown into the ring and hit the Book End on Brock, slamming his head directly onto the chair as he hit the ground and knocking him unconscious. Heyman grabbed his head with his hands in dismay as the referee returned and counted to three while Booker pinned Lesnar to win the match and become King of the Ring.

After winning the match, Booker did something unexpected. He called his nWo buddies out to celebrate and grabbed a microphone. Booker declared to the WWE Universe, "You will now refer to me by my new moniker, KING Booker," and then, pointing at Nash and Hall he said, "and that goes for you two as well." Neither Nash or Hall seemed to be too enthusiastic about that after effectively carrying the self-proclaimed king through the tournament. And they looked at each other, nodded and then hoisted Booker atop their shoulders for a double powerbomb before continuing to beat the crap out of him inside and outside the ring. When they were done, Nash grabbed the mic and said, "This is the New World Order, and in OUR world there are no kings. You're out." Nash and Hall then walked backstage, leaving the new King of the Ring holding his new robes and King of the Ring briefcase as he lay in the ring alone and in pain.
Wiinner: Booker T by Pinfall.
