NFL Overtime sucks. Last night's epic game ending without Josh Allen getting to touch the ball in overtime was a travesty.
It doesn't need to be complicated.
1 10 minute 5th quarter in the regular season.
1 10 minute quarter in the playoffs then revert to the modified sudden death we have now.
What are your thoughts?

1 possession each, if still tied then FG shootout starting at 35 yards and moving back 5 yards with each kick going back to 55 yards.

This was an interesting proposal:
The Ravens proposal is based on the "spot and choose" concept, where one team will pick the spot of the ball to start the extra period, and the other team will decide if they'd prefer to play offense or defense from that spot.
The effect of the change is to minimize the impact of the coin toss. As overtime is currently set up, the team winning the game toss will almost always choose possession, as it gives their team the chance to win the game without giving their opponents another possession. With the spot and choose approach, both teams have a hand in their overtime fate.

in the chatbox we got into it, the easiest thing to do without changing the current setup too much and without making the games 5 hours long is to simply give the second team a possession to match or best the team that gets the ball first.

I like this outside of 1 possession each. We don't want to stretch the game out forever, but maybe a shortened OT period & if we're still tied up at the end of 5 minutes (or 10?) then the FG shootout begins.

I would only do the one possession each rule and then it becomes sudden death. Anything more is doing too much. Even college overtimes are too much in my opinion.
