Central Florida Golden Knights Shocks The Bulls In Their The War on I-4
After three tough seasons at the University of Central Florida, two plays made Antoine Mason a household name.
Mason broke for runs of 82 and 81 yards in the second and third quarter as the Golden Knights pulled off the upset of the No. 2 ranked USF Bulls 28-7 on Friday night.
USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. was vocal about his displeasure with the offense following a lackluster performance, turning the ball over twice in the fourth quarter which sealed their fate.
"Offensively, we never got off the bus. [Corey Montgomery] showed up to play," said Francois Sr. after the game, "That's about it, I think they expected those guys to roll over but they're scholarships athletes just like you and when they got punched in the mouth tonight, they just wanted to go back to their dorms and FaceTime with their girlfriends."
The Bulls outgained the Knights 447 to 358 on offense but with five redzone trips, drops, sacks and penalties resulted in just seven points.

Top 247 defensive tackle Dwayne Callahan chooses Bulls over Virginia
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
Four-star defensive tackle Dwayne Callahan will be playing out his college career at the University of South Florida.
The sixth ranked interior defensive lineman of the 2029 recruiting class, Callahan picked USF over Virginia Tech with Wisconsin, Kansas State, Stanford and Texas A&M being involved in the recruitment process as well.
Listed at six-foot-four and 300 pounds on his high school's roster, Callahan has prototypical size and length to be a dominant nose tackle down the line in Justin Wilcox's 3-4 defense. He's a powerful athlete with a solid frame and very little bad weight for a prospect his size. Callahan does rely on his sheer strength to overpower offensive lineman at the high school level and can get lazy with his hands, two things he won't get away with at the next level.

USF QB Jay Jackson switching back jersey to number 7 for SEC Championship Game
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
South Florida quarterback Jay Jackson will be switching from No. 1 back to No. 7 in an attempt to break out of out his slump.
Jackson, who started the season wearing the No. 7, was award the No. 1 jersey following his hot start to the season that had him as a Heisman favorite. He's thrown fourteen interceptions in six games since then which have led to losses to unranked Tennessee at home and rival UCF.
Jackson is second in the nation with 3,537 yards passing and is sixth in completion percentage at 70 percent.

Five-star Peach State running back E.J. Thomas commits to Francois' Bulls
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. was going to get that sixth fifth-star in the class and he did so.
The head coach put out a cryptic video late Wednesday night on social media of a shooting star. By Thursday morning, it had made the rounds that five-star running back E.J. Thomas has committed to the South Florida Bulls. Thomas had kept his recruitment close to the vest, not doing any interviews but the number one ranked running back in the class did confirm that he had committed to the Bulls.
The Bulls highest ranked commit in the class, Thomas is the No. 4 ranked player in the nation and with good reason. He's a bit more explosive than fellow five-star recruiting classmate Anthony Montgomery and thicker in the lower body but both have similar playing style of being straight line runners that are tough to bring down and always seem to fall forward.
If four-star David Daniel does end up at running back, it could get crowded and redundant in the backfield but when a player as talented as E.J. Thomas wants in on a class, you take him.

USF Uses Their Rematch With the Rebels To Prove A Point, Win SEC Championship
USF redshirt senior quarterback Jay Jackson waited four long years to be the starter at USF only for him to have his job and number stripped right before the SEC Championship Game. He didn't pout and instead coached up his replacement, redshirt freshman Antonio Whitehead.
When Whitehead left the game with an injury, Jackson's week got a little bit better, closing out the Bulls' 23-3 win over Ole Miss to win their second SEC championship in three years.
USF pounded the Rebels with their ground game, rushing for 262 yards while Ole Miss had just 169 yards of total offense. When Jackson took over the game, he just kept handing the ball over before he threw a screen pass to James Harper for the touchdown in the third quarter.
Before Whitehead injured his right, non-throwing arm, he showed flashes of pinpoint accuracy and quick decision making, going 19 of 26 for 180 yards and a touchdown, with his lone interception coming on a dropped back.
For Ole Miss' Ryan Cooper, it was a day to forget as he tried replacing the injured Tyler Horne. Horne didn't far much better in the first matchup of the season was he was sacked six times and threw for 187 yards with an interception and no touchdowns.

USF to play Minnesota in Citrus Bowl
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
The last time USF played Texas, the Bulls scored 35 second half points in a 56-27 rout of the Longhorns back in 2024. The two programs will face off again on December 31st, 2028 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana.
It's first matchup of the two programs since the Bulls left the Big XII four seasons ago and since then, Kliff Kingsbury has led the Longhorns to their first Big XII championship since 2014 which was the longest drought in the program's history since joining the Big XII.

USF football losing WR Andrew Rivas to transfer portal not surprising
Jessica Kirkland -- SB Nation: USF Bulls Affiliate
Junior wide receiver Andrew Rivas signed with the USF football program back in 2026 as five-star recruit and through three seasons, his impact hasn't been five-star caliber.
Rivas announced his decision to enter the transfer portal via Twitter on Monday afternoon, news that didn't come as a shock to most fans after Rivas did not play in the SEC championship game.
The Texas native had a potential breakout game earlier in the year with 6 catches for 90 yards and 3 touchdowns against Kentucky. He hasn't scored since then and has seventeen catches for 203 yards on the season which are career numbers for him.
When USF signed Rivas, they surely expected to get more than 470 yards on 45 catches and seven touchdowns as many saw him as the heir apparent to be the next great Bulls receiver under head coach Malcolm Francois Sr.
NC State and Wake Forest finished second and third in Rivas' recruitment but it remains to be seen where Rivas ends up as he is set to graduate next week and would be eligible to play immediately.
